Almost every aspect of our lives, from overseas travel to the heating of our houses, is affected by energy sources. Our reliance on energy, however, is affecting the environment and has become rather controversial.

Over the past 15 years, significant changes have taken place in this industry. One of the primary changes was the extraction of natural gas?using the hydraulic fracturing process?from the Marcellus and Utica shale layers. While some controversy continues regarding the implications of extensive drilling, it is clear that the U.S. is focused on the use of diversified energy sources.
