Students in this LL.M. program cover areas of law which in today’s world are expanding, converging and at times, intersecting and they gain skills of high value which can provide the tipping point for attorneys contending for jobs in very competitive areas.

At the core, an “Entertainment Lawyer” provides legal advice, counsel and representation to companies and individuals in the entertainment industries, including television, motion pictures, radio, music, theater, publishing, digital media and video games.

An art law attorney must have the skills of a generalist and the knowledge of a specialist.  Although many consider intellectual property law as the core of an art law practice, representing artists, dealers, and collectors brings an art lawyer into multiple areas of the law including contracts, torts, estate planning as well as property, tax, real estate, nonprofit organizations law.  Art law cases often involve Constitutional issues such as free speech and censorship and both public and private international law.

Sports lawyers usually require knowledge of various areas of law including: contracts, labor, antitrust, tax, intellectual property and media law.

This LL.M. enables students to get a wide-range of skills in these interconnecting areas of entertainment, arts and sports law while honing their specific area of interest with a choice of three specializations: the entertainment law track, the sports law track, and the arts law track. In each track some coursework is track-specific and other courses are applicable across all tracks, providing a well-rounded but field-specific curriculum to match individual interests.
