Course Curriculum

8

  • My course is easy for me as I just concentrate on the studies.
  • The positive aspects are we can get into different kind of jobs that can be either managing positions or coding positions as our program has both type of courses in it.

Admission Experience

  • Saint Louis University(Admitted)
Southern Arkansas university (Rejected)(I don't have 4 years under graduation program)
    Sacred Heart University (Shortlisted)

  • I haven't applied for any other universities as I don't have any 4 years undergrad program on my profile. I won't be eligible for most of the universities. I have searched for few more universities but I don't find them that match with my requirements.

  • I choose this university because I already have a friend who's pursuing master's degree.

  • I have done some research on the university ranking on the websites as well as student reviews on the google.

  • I have applied to the university at 0$ application fee as it got waived later I got acceptance letter from them. Later I got I20from them through email and postal along with some university perks like bottles.

  • University checks for IELTS/TOFEL score along with the academic background that's it and GRE is not mandatory.

  • Admission experience is so good that they will respond within a day based on the US work timings.

  • Spring 2023 is the intake I have applied to and as I mentioned I already have a friend who is studying master's in Information Systems program so that Influenced my decision.

  • My admission process took a month each step took two weeks of time. Acceptance letter took two weeks and later I20 took almost another two weeks. Overall when compared to the other universities It's faster and responding for every email that I dropped.

Class Schedule

8

  • Classes will scheduled based on the courses you are enrolled. At least three two hour classes will be there in a week. Most of the courses doesn't have much hands-on coding part that's the only negative.
  • On an average 24 students will be there in a class.
  • All of my batchmates are Indians almost 114 students.

Faculty

10

  • 1:54 will be the faculty- to student ration in my course. Some courses do have 1:24 ratio so that allows the professor to get to know each student's feedback and the responses on the activities they are conducting to make classes so much interactive.
  • Mostly professor explains the main topics in the class and do conduct activities to make class interactive. Rest of the content will be provided in the form of videos in the canvas app.
  • Faculty doesn't involve in providing any job opportunities.
  • Director Maria is the one I admire the most as she provides great real-time insights about the job market.

Campus Life

10

  • Our university has three Campus one is located in Spain, other two located in Saint Louis, Missouri state i.e. North and south campuses.
  • University has plethora of facilities such as library, stadiums, Gym, recreation center, wellness services, student health and dining hall.

Part Time Jobs

  • RA, TA positions are most competitive roles and most of the times one in a 300 members will be selected for those roles.
Pay rate for TA/RA/DA stands at 15$ per hour.

  • here are plenty of student worker roles in the university in different departments some are in library, career services, Information Services department, mail room, food, dining place, facility services etc.

  • As an international student maximum of 20 hours per week is the limit.

  • There are so many Indians are waiting to secure on campus part time jobs it is difficult as there is a strong competition.

  • 12.30$ per hour is the basic pay on the campus. Its too difficult to secure a part time job while studying because as I mentioned its so much competitive between the indian students itself. Usually there will be a app named handshake that will provide all the open positions listed on the campus and whenever there are some events happening on the campus that can help to secure connections will help in future to get a part time jobs.

Placement

6

  • I am not sure about securing jobs as they were all kept secret as professional.
  • Average salary range will be around 100k per year. It will be depending on the location of the job as well.
  • Students use different sources to get a job some will use referrals, some will use third party consulting firms to get marketing the profile so that recruiters can able reach out to you with opportunities.
  • Major companies that hire information systems graduates are IT and consulting firms like Cognizant, Capgemini,Walmart,Amazon etc.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • I have joined in a whatsapp group and found the off campus accommodation as I was not restricted with the on-campus rules.
  • My monthly rent is at 300$ I get all the gym facility, pool and trash pickup.
  • I didn't faced any challenges while finding my accommodation.
  • I will suggest to get accommodation near to the campus that will help them to grab few perks.
  • I live very near to the campus almost a 2 miles of distance from the university gate. Mostly Indians live in my community near the campus.

Exams

  • University mandatorily check for IELTS /TOFEL / Duolingo score and your academic background but GRE,GMAT,PTE,SAT is an added advantage that can boost your profile to get shortlisted very quick but I just only with IELTS that worked for me.
  • University asks for all the general docs like marksheets, Statement of Purpose, three LORs from your professors or colleagues, Bank statement as a proof of financial support, notary document that says your father will provide all the amount necessary for fee and resume.
  • There isn't any interview they will just call you and do some screening questions for verify the details.

Events

8

  • Major festivals will be our Indian festivals such as Holi, Diwali and Vinayaka Chaturthi these were celebrated by SLU International services.
  • Every month grad involvement club conducts Game Night like a social interactive event.
  • Saint Louis University conducts ample of sports such as basket ball, soccer, hockey, badminton, weight lifting and so on.

Fees

  • My full fee is 42000$ for my entire master's degree in Information Systems Major excluding the hostel and other charges as I am living off-campus.
  • Each semester I will get charged with almost 9000$ and it varies from student to student based on the credit hours they got registered. Saint Louis University charges fee semester-wise as long as you didn't take any extra courses than you supposed to do.
  • My monthly expenditure including all utilities, grocery and rent is around 600$.

Scholarship

  • I received a 4000$ as graduation scholarship during my admission process. Later I was provided with overall 5000$ additional discount as I started working as graduate teaching assistant.
  • A total of 9000$ was the award amount for the scholarship I received.
  • My batchmates received 12000$ as well they did their admission process through a third-party university associated vendor called "INTO SLU". Students who got conditional admission through INTO SLU they got more scholarship award amount than regular one and they need to do an additional course which is related to english.
