My university experience has been amazing. I started off as a Masters student and with the research opportunities given to me i completed my masters in computer science and continued my education for my Doctoral degree. In 4.5 years I earned a masters and a PhD degree from this esteemed university. The connections I made here will last forever and the fun with all events and sports is unforgettable. With the research I did, I am able to get a job immediately after graduation and I am really thankful for that.
Course Curriculum :
There are a lot of research opportunities in this university. They make you take research credits with professor's and gain research experience first hand. The curriculum is set to be difficult as it forces you to learn new things. This is what we came to learn and we get our money's worth. They have major projects in each class which focuses on finding a solution to a problem. This introduces us to real world applications. Through my research I was given the opportunity to work with Intel for 2 years and I received an internship with them as well.
Exams :
-My score was GRE 315 and TOEFL- 112/120. SoP, LoR, CV, and transcripts attested by MU in a sealed envelope. -GRE, TOEFL or IELTS. GRE, you need more than 300, and TOEFL above 100.
Placement :
I visited Micron, Intel, Crossbar, Everspin, Castle Shield, Microchip and more companies. Also a lot of companies visit on campus and we can go meet them. There are a lot of people coming to our university like last year we had Bill Gates coming to our university. Kamala Harrison came as well. These well known people gave speeches and similarly a lot of great researchers from brown university, IBM and other places visited us to share their knowledge.
Internship :
I did an internship with Intel where I worked for 40 hours a week over the summer for a month and earned 24$ an hour
Fees :
$20000 per year, but since I received a GRA, I didn't have to pay after my first semester. Also, to note, every semester, the fees change a little. It is not a constant number. The prices change based on the courses you pick and the number of credits you take.
Scholarship :
10000/- year and then I applied for graduate research assistant position and I got that. So after my first semester I didn't have to pay any fees other than the extra curriculum fees which was around 800$
Faculty :
All the faculty here are extremely talented and well known. Some are working with US army for security research, others are greatly known for high performance computing, network security, AI, large scale data structure, machine learning, statistical analysis and more. There are vast number of areas you can explore here and everyone is extremely friendly to help us whenever we need.
Campus Life :
The campus is huge and has a huge library which not only provides us with books but also laptop, tablets, 3D printers, cameras, and more. They have a IT department right there that can help with fixing laptop or any electronic items. They have multiple computers in the library to use and work on. Every place in the campus has WiFi. They have multiple events celebrating every culture like Indian, italian, Chinese, Korean, and more. It's an never ending list. People on campus are very accepting and helpful. There is a huge gym and a lot of trails to run and hike around. Multiple grounds for soccer, basketball, lawn tennis and more.
Hostel :
The accommodation for a private room can range anywhere between 700-1200 off-campus and on campus. Living expenses would include food majorly but university has a drive where they distribute food every two weeks for free. The student just needs to go and pick it up. Other than that it'll cost you around 300-500$
