Required Exams for Admission

TOEFL (116)
GRE (330)

The overall experience here has been very amazing for me. I have engaged in a lot of activities and strived to be better all the time. This is very valuable to me and I hope it is the same for anyone else who joins as well.

Course Curriculum

10

The course syllabus is very updated and keeps getting updated every year. A lot of courses are industrial or research based on the kind of course you do.

Faculty

10

Faculty to student ratio is about 1-20/1-30. Patrick Tague and Dave Eckhardt have left an incredible impact on me. Most professors here are very unique in the way they are.

Campus Life

10

The campus life is mostly heavily academic. There are a lot of research seminar talks and such activities throughout the campus. Graduate students do not really have time for clubs and other such activities. Departments try to keep students engaged by having fun events such as outings to go to play golf or amusement parks.

Placement

10

Almost all students are placed. Median salary would be about $140,000. People generally do not have trouble finding jobs and alumni are quite helpful. CMU brand name is also very helpful in getting jobs at places such as apple. Our stats are entirely public and can be viewed on the department website.

Accommodation

Off Campus
7

There is no housing for graduate students. Therefore you need to look for it around the campus.

Exams

My scores: GRE - 330 (162V, 168Q, 5.0W) (not submitted to CMU). My scores: TOEFL - 116. C programming is a key skill to have especially to get admitted into my department. This is because a lot of courses go very low level in the programming and C is very valuable to know.

Fees

100000

Scholarship

Yes. Most students in my department get a varied amount of funding based on their scores.
