The BSc in Financial Mathematics aims to provide you with fundamental mathematical and statistical knowledge, whilst also developing important transferrable skills and an understanding of modern finance studies regarding financial markets, institutions, investments and policies.
This degree offers a solid grounding in general mathematical theory and techniques. It encourages an understanding of abstract mathematical concepts, logical argument and deductive reasoning. Much of year one is common to our courses, so if you wish to change to another course within the School this may be possible.
This particular version of the degree allows you to spend your third year studying abroad before returning to Cardiff for a final year. The School of Mathematics has agreements with institutions across Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia, and you will have support to apply for your overseas year.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- 32-34 overall or 6,6,5 in 3 HL subjects
- Official transcripts of all the previous school, colleges or universities
English Language Requirements:
- IELTS academic: overall 6.5 minimum with 5.5 in each subskill
- TOEFL iBT: 90 overall minimum with minimum socres of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading and 20 for speaking
- PTE academic: 62 minimum overall with overall 59 minimum in all communicative skills
Indian Student Specific Requirements:
- Average of 75-77% in top 4 subjects (not including physical education) in Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (Class XII)
