Course Curriculum

8

  • Course curriculum was practical and theoretical, a mix of both. Difficulty level was medium, not very easy or not very difficult.
  • There were 50 students in my class. Approx 8 Indian students in my class.
  • Teaching methodology included a mix of theory and practical. The practical knowledge is very helpful for us. Although the course could be improved with introduction of more marketing and digital marketing tools to be used in real life.
  • More tools would be helpful in securing a job in the professional field later.

Admission Experience

  • I applied to multiple colleges: Imperial london- waitlisted; Queen mary university- Selected, University of Warwick- selected, University of York - selected, University of Nottingham- selected, University of Liverpool- selected, University of Leeds - selected, University of Bath - selected,
University of Edinburgh- shortlisted but seats full- waitlisted at end, University of Manchester- selected, Manchester metropolitan University- selected. That’s all.
  • I chose University of Manchester as UoM had a specific curriculum which I was looking for, since the start of my university search. My counselor had recommended several other universities, but I decided on Manchester as it had a detailed approach into Digital marketing, rather than others which were focused only on marketing.
  • Admission process - 1. Confirmation of seat by payment of deposit.
    2. Financial details - loan / self etc
    3. Background check by university
    4. Wait for CAS letter
    5. Visa application
    6. Complete
  • Requirements: IELTS compulsory- 7 or above score overall was required.
  • Overall, a smooth experience, no hassles or challenges.
  • I enrolled in September 2023 intake. It took 2 months for the end to end admission process.

Faculty

8

  • All the faculty members were good, supportive and professional.
  • Our professor for market and competitive research was outstanding in terms of their personal achievements in the marketing field.
  • Our professor for topics in digital marketing was outstanding in terms of their expertise in the field.
  • Our professor for IMC Integrated marketing communications was superb in terms of their teaching skills and expertise.
  • No assistance for any jobs from the faculty, neither for part time or full time.

Campus Life

10

  • Entire campus was split in 3 parts- university area, fallowfield area and back of city center area.
  • All facilities include the largest hospital of Manchester, sports grounds, indoor and outdoors, Manchester aquatics center for swimming and other activities, Football grounds, communal centers, prayer rooms, etc
  • All societies have their own events and festivals ranging from India community clubs to international society and also LGBT supportive groups and clubs.
  • Various student organizations and clubs kept us busy throughout the year, all festivals, seasons, sports, were celebrated throughout the year ranging from chinese new year to Indian festivals like Holi and Diwali.

Part Time Jobs

  • I am not sure about the part time opportunities related to the teaching field. Other part time jobs include- student ambassadors, Library staff, Waiters and waitresses for events, International society jobs, Student tourers for new students, Campus calling jobs.
  • You can work for 20 hours per week at the max
  • It is not easy to secure part time jobs as the number of jobs is very less and the number of students waiting for opportunities is large.
  • Standard minimum wage is 11£ per hour. So students typically earn this amount in their jobs. It is easy if you start applying early, especially during the holiday season. However, as the year progresses towards the end, the difficulty in getting a job increases and the opportunities reduce considerably.
  • I haven’t applied for any part time jobs so I am not aware of the exact procedure for that. But as per my information from other batchmates, it was a normal recruitment process just like any other job application.

Placement

6

  • I have just graduated freshly out of my masters so won’t be able to answer this now.
  • Average salary range is from 28-45K GBP for this course. Students use their own means for finding jobs like Linkedin and other platforms, apart from careers websites from various companies.
  • There are no recruitment or placement drives considered by our university.
  • Average Package: £28000 to £45000 per annum

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • You can get university accommodation through the university portal. Rent would be 187£ /week for 51 weeks for a silver ensuite bedroom. The room has 3/4 size bed, ensuite washroom, study desk, shared kitchen and communal area. There is 24/7 security and reception, secure entry and exit, recreational facilities.
  • I would recommend every student to check the BUS CONNECTIVITY from their accommodation to the university, before finalizing their accommodation in Manchester. Areas like george kenyon hall, fallowfield area, wilmslow road area and city center, are best for traveling and transport, throughout the city at all times of the day. Extremely good connectivity.
  • My accommodation was 25 mins walk from university.
  • Indian students are residing in all parts of the city.

Exams

  • IELTS or any other English proficiency exam is compulsory.
  • Documents required: SOP, LOR, References - Professional and academic, All academic records, All professional records. No, the interview was not a part of my process.

Fees

  • 187£/ per week rent for 51 weeks - University accommodation. So it would be 750£ / month (approx) rent.
  • Tuition fees were 29000£ for the whole year. Fees paid in 3 installments. (December, april and june)
  • I got a Scholarship - 10% on tuition fees
  • Monthly expense around 300£ (without rent). 100 £ travel - transport etc, 100 £ groceries, 100£ for other expenses (eating out, trips, shopping, etc)

Scholarship

  • Yes, based on Academic excellence- there is a humanities scholarship. There is 10% off on tuition fees.
  • My batchmates got different scholarships and received upto 30% off on their tuition fees.
  • In a single course, approx 20% students in the batch, get scholarships.
