Sai Balaji Suresh Review at King's College London [KCL], London | Collegedunia

KCL - PG review.

SS
8.7 /10

I chose King's because of the programme as it is interdisciplinary, as well as it was a blend of Economics and Policy, the two subjects which I preferred to do. The campus is also located in Central London which is perfect to network and connect with industry professionals.

Course Curriculum :

It is what you make of it. I enjoyed the electives while the core economics courses were hard. The programme has 3 core economics courses and 1 core Public Policy course. The rest of them are majorly electives.

Exams :

- No GRE is required for King's or any UK university in general. For IELTS or TOEFL, I am not too sure but at par with most UK universities. - School - Lotus Valley International School, Noida. CBSE - 92% (10th), CBSE - 97.5% (12th) Krea University - B.A Economics (Hons) 83% (UG) - Requirements: SoP and one LoR. No interview is required. For SoP it is like other universities like how you can define yourself and why this particular programme. For LoR, choose a professor whom you have a great rapport with.

Placement :

Nothing to Say, no campus recruitment at all. Research opportunities are only dependent on how many professors you reach out to.

Fees :

The total tuition fee is around 27,540 pounds which translates to 27.5 Lakhs INR. It is paid in two instalments, one per term.

Faculty :

The faculty-to-student ratio depends on the course, for the overall programme it will be roughly 30:1. I think it is pretty decent as lectures are large and seminars are short. Both of them are taken by professors which is much better than Teaching Assistants.

Campus Life :

Campus life is great, always something to do. All universities in the UK have a student union (SU) which regularly hosts events. Also for any hobby you have, there will be a club. I was part of the Squash team, Diplomacy Club as well as the Hindu Society.

Hostel :

I lived in a student accommodation. Rent was as per season. So for winter it was 5 to 6 lakhs per term (3 months) due to heating costs, but in the summer it is only 2 to 3 lakhs.
