To study in Sweden, you must meet the basic requirements, which are generally the same in most universities. Apart from basic entry requirements, you must also be aware of exams to study in Sweden before applying for admissions. Almost all courses in Swedish universities are completely taught in English. Hence, you are required to submit exams such as IELTS, TOEFL IBT, PTE or other equivalent English test accepted in Sweden.

You may also be required to submit a GRE or GMAT score to get admissions to STEM designated or business courses. GRE is generally not required to study in Sweden. However, GMAT scores are recommended for business or related courses to improve your admission chances.

Study in Sweden with IELTS

IELTS is highly recommended if you wish to secure admissions in top Swedish universities. A minimum IELTS score of 6.5 is required in English 6 and 7.0 is required in English 7. You must pay a registration fee of 17,000 INR to appear in the IELTS exam.

Study in Sweden with TOEFL l

TOEFL is equally the most popular test among international students seeking higher education in Sweden. A minimum score of 90 in internet based test or 575 in paper based test is required. The TOEFL IBT is the most commonly accepted exam, compared to PBT or paper-based tests. To appear in either of the TOEFL exams, you need to pay the registration fee of 16,900 INR.

Study in Sweden with PTE

PTE is comparatively the easiest English test than IELTS and TOEFL. It is a 3-hour-long test and issues results within 5 days of the test. This exam requires a registration fee of 17,000 INR just like IELTS. A score between 62-68 is recommended in PTE to secure admissions in Sweden universities.

Study in Sweden with Cambridge ESOL

The Cambridge ESOL exam is conducted by the Cambridge University press and is accepted by over 120 universities worldwide. With Cambridge ESOL, you can make yourself eligible for study, work, and immigration in Sweden. Cambridge ESOL is the cheapest English test and requires a registration fee of 3,500 INR.

Study in Sweden with MELAB

Michigan English Language Assessment Battery or MELAB is a test which is specifically designed for Non-native English speakers. It is offered by the English language institute of University of Michigan. You must achieve at least 85-90 in the MELAB test for admissions in Sweden. The cost of MELAB test is 80 USD (6,717 INR) excluding the speaking test and 120 USD (10,076 INR) for Indian students.

Subject Specific Exam to Study in Sweden

Most universities in Sweden have kept GMAT/GRE scores as an optional requirement. However, submitting GMAT or GRE can improve your chances of admissions in top universities such as Karolinska Institute, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Lund and Uppsala University. There are no minimum requirements for GMAT/GRE tests in these universities.

Stockholm University of Economics and Gothenburg University require GMAT scores for admissions to business courses. You can also submit a GRE in lieu of a GMAT score, with a minimum score of 155 in the quantitative section. Given below are the minimum GMAT scores required by these universities:
