The Zutshi-Smith Scholarship program is established as a legacy of the late Dr. Derek Zutshi (MB ChB 1957, Hon LLD 1999). The program offers one Indian research student to pursue any Ph.D. program at the University of Bristol

While the scholarship program is offered to all the eligible Indian students, the preference will be given to the applicants belonging to Kashmir.

The latest deadline is yet to come, not available right now.

The University of Bristol fully funds the selected student’s 4 years of education at the university. The Zutshi-Smith Scholarship award amount covers the following expenses:

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Zutshi-Smith Scholarship, prospective applicants have to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Must be a resident in India. Preference will be given to Kashmiri applicants.
  • Must have secured admission at the University of Bristol.
  • Must have enrolled for a Ph.D. program at the university.

Since there aren’t any stringent eligibility requirements, only the students who fulfill the criteria given above will be considered for the award.

Every year, the university officials announce the deadline for the scholarship application. The application timeline for the Zutshi-Smith Scholarship 2020-21 is yet to be announced.

The Zutshi-Smith scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to an Indian student pursuing a doctorate degree at the University of Bristol. The scholarship is named after Dr. Zutshi who was from Srinagar. He studied medicine at the University of Bristol and maintained close connections with the university after graduation.

The scholarship program provides annual payments that are meant to cover the entire year’s tuition and fees. A stipend is also paid to cover the research costs the student would have to face. The total scholarship awards a total of 19,987.49 USD to the recipient.
