Each year, the Claes Isacson Foundation grants financial aid to students having a keen interest in the marine insurance markets. The Claes Isacson Scholarship is offered by Claes Isacson Foundation to help the young students with their finances who wish to pursue a career in shipping and marine insurance sectors. 

The Claes Isacson Scholarship is open to all students around the world. They must meet the eligibility criteria to be considered for the same.

Students above 18 years of age are invited to apply for the Claes Issacson Scholarship, which provides financial aid of up to  20,000 USD. The amount may be awarded to one student or split between many students. 

The awardees of  the Claes Isacson Scholarship will receive the scholarship in tranche parts : 

  1. The first tranche will be transferred to the nominee's bank account during the enrolment.
  2. The second tranche will be transferred at the beginning of the second semester.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring for the scholarship must show an excellent record in academics and extra-curricular activities. Applicants for Claes Isacson Scholarship have to Eligibility criteria listed below : 

  • Candidates enrolled at a university or equivalent institution, focusing on subjects related to the Marine Insurance Business or Shipping Industry.
  • Should provide certified copies of exam certificates, detailing the educational programs they are enrolled in to be eligible 
  • Candidates presenting a post-graduation plan, detailing the extent to which the scholarship has aided in the finance of special projects or education programs that they have already commenced.
  • Candidates presenting their future plans, describing their intent to pursue a career in the shipping and marine insurance business.

Selection Process

After the successful submission of the application form, the scholarship committee will then review application forms of students. 
The selection committee will evaluate applicants on the basis of the following criteria: 

  • Applicant’s inclination towards the shipping industry and/or the marine insurance business.
  • The applicant's presentation, outlining their future plans and the purpose of finance that they are seeking.
  • The presented documents and copies of exam certificates. 

The Selection Committee will interview selected applicants before announcing the winner of the scholarship


Grant Details

The Claes Isacson Scholarship is awarded annually. The amount of 20,000 USD may be awarded to one student or split between many students. 

After the completion of the program, scholars are required to submit a report, summarising the benefits of receiving the award and an account report of the funds spent.  

Terms and Conditions of Claes Isacson Scholarship

Along with knowing how to obtain the Claes Isacson Scholarship, it is significant for each applicant to know the scholarship’s terms and conditions. They are as follows :

  • As the scholarship is awarded in two trenches, students must retain eligibility in order to qualify for the second round of reward.
  • Candidates must adhere to the information requirements of the Gard Scholarship Committee
  • A report after the completion of the course program. 
  • A statement confirming the authenticity of the fund allocation.
  • The candidate's failure to present documents will be a cause for disqualification and termination of the award. 
  • Candidates are required to provide a letter of acceptance of the scholarship, with an acknowledgment of the intention to use the funds allocated, and a confirmation that the terms and conditions are met.
