Which college should I choose, KJ Somaiya, the IMI Delhi, the Fore School of Management or the Lal Bahadur Shastri in Delhi to pursue an MBA?

DV
Dev Varma Posted On : March 15th, 2023
Studied at the FORE School of Management

When it comes to choosing between different institutes for an MBA, there are a lot of factors to consider beyond just ROI, fees, and CTC.

Firstly, think about the specialization you want to pursue. Each institute may have a different focus, such as IMI's dedicated HR course, FORE's marketing program, or LBS's finance specialization. Do your research and make sure you choose an institute that aligns with your career goals.

When considering placements, don't just focus on the CTC or the recruiting companies. Instead, look at the profile that is being offered. There is a big difference between an area manager role and a sales executive role, for example. Make sure the profile is something that interests you and aligns with your career aspirations.

Talking to alumni can also be a helpful way to gauge the exposure and opportunities offered by each institute. Reach out to alumni from different institutes to get a better understanding of what each one offers and which may be the best fit for you.

Ultimately, how you perform in the program will matter much more than which institute you choose. Put in the effort and work hard to make the most of your time in the program, and you will set yourself up for success in your future career.

Is there anyone who remains unplaced from old IIM, XLRI, FMS Delhi, and NITIE? Is it possible to be?

HR
Hira Ramchandani Posted On : January 9th, 2023
MBA in Human Resources & Strategy, Xavier School of Management (Graduated 2011)

Top B-Schools have created an Invincible persona and have successfully marketed it over the years; however, there is now a demand-supply mismatch, with seats at all B-Schools almost doubling or tripling in the last decade, and a slew of new IIMs or branches of top colleges such as MDI Murshidabad, IIFT Kolkata, NITIE, FMS Delhi, and XLRI Delhi. The colleges will suffer as a result of the lack of job offers from top companies. The only increase can be attributed to recently funded startups that have started hiring from these colleges by offering outrageous packages.

There are students who are unable to be placed during the normal Summers / Finals process, but these colleges use their star alumni base to place the remaining 5-8 students in companies cofounded by the alums or through alums who have been placed in top positions in traditional corporates.

Which one should I choose: TAPMI, FORE, or LBSIM?

SR
Simpal Rai Posted On : February 28th, 2023
MCom from Indira Gandhi National Open University

Honestly speaking, TAPMI, FORE, and LBSIM are very similar in terms of curriculum. Many of my friends have completed PGDM from FORE and TAPMI. Even the comp ones that visit the campus for placements are very similar and not much comparison can be done between the 2 B Schools. The placements report too will reveal a similar list of companies visiting. Some minor differences between these B Schools are

  • TAPMI is a residential campus unlike FORE and therefore has an upper hand in this aspect. You can spend more time on group research and assignments.
  • FORE has a locational advantage compared to TAPMI as it is located in the capital city whereas TAPMI is situated on the Konkan Coast.

Recruiters consider all top 2 B Schools in the same league. What matters more than your B School choice is what you plan to do from your PGDM course.

AG
Aditya Ghose Posted On : May 15th, 2021
PGDM Marketing & Information Technology, FORE School of Management (2018)

It depends entirely on which specialization you want to choose. I know a few people from both TAPMI and FORE. So, I think I can give you some information about these two institutes which may be helpful for choosing which is best for you.

For Marketing:

If you want a career in marketing, go for FORE.

  • FORE has better faculty for Marketing specialization.
  • The internship offers they offer are majorly from Sales, Business Development, and Market Research.
  • For placements, many major FMCG companies visit the campus. Profiles mostly offered in placements are Area Sales Manager.
  • The highest salary received here is 30 LPA while the average salary is 10.6 LPA.
  • FORE also has the added advantage of being located near the Commercial hub of Gurgaon, Delhi.

For Finance:

  • TAPMI is very good if you want to pursue your career in finance. It has a very good faculty and all the top sector companies visit the campus for placements.
  • The highest package observed here is 25 LPA while the average salary is 11 LPA.

The placement statistics for both these two institutes are authentic and not inflated. Both the colleges are good and have their own advantages.

Should I join K J Somaiya PGDM FS or FORE PGDM?

SG
Samarth Gaur Posted On : January 6th, 2023
Simulation-based learning tools, brand engagements

FORE and KJ Somaiya are both excellent. The curriculum is designed in consultation with industry leaders and the growing demands of the industry as an ongoing process at FORE, making it relevant to the workplace. FORE has a strong connection with the corporate world and is a preferred destination for recruiters because it provides value to the recruiter as well. The average CTC offered by both institutes is nearly identical - FORE: INR 14.04 LPA & KJS: INR 12.28 LPA.

If you are not from Mumbai, you must also consider the cost of living. Delhi/NCR is always less expensive than Mumbai.

Which is better between Fore PGDM-IB or TAPMI PGDM?

AG
Abhiroop Ghose Posted On : April 17th, 2022
PGDM from T. A. Pai Management Institute (2019)

If you are interested in pursuing International Business, then FORE will be a better option, otherwise, TAPMI PGDM is better.

  • FORE offers many electives to choose from. Even though you will be specializing in IB, you can choose electives like Business Communication, Information Technology, etc. So, you won’t be choosing a niche area.
  • It has an institutional membership with professional societies like EPSI, BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry, AMDISA, etc. for student chapters.
  • FORE has MoUs with universities like Anglia Ruskin University, Northampton University, etc. for student exchange programs, research, and other academic reasons.
  • It offers placements in top recruiting companies like KPMG, Accenture, Deloitte, Ernest & Young, etc. As per the placement highlights of 2022, the average CTC offered at FORE was INR 11.4 LPA
  • TAPMI is among the very few institutes in India to have AACSB accreditation.
  • TAPMI alumni are working in responsible managerial positions worldwide.
  • As per TAPMI placements of 2022, the average CTC offered was INR 12.6 LPA, and the highest CTC was INR 32.2 LPA.

You should choose FORE or TAPMI based on the specialization you want to pursue.
