Which one is better for a CSE: Jamia Millia Islamia or NIT Kurukshetra?
One of my friends recently passed out from NIT Kurukshetra. He was all praise for the coding culture there and also the placements. A lot of good companies like Google Microsoft Directi offer great packages given that your profile is deserving.
- The city life however is not very dynamic because Kurukshetra is a small city with very few places to hang out unlike Delhi, a very vibrant city.
- The hostel life is great because you make very good friends here. Students are provided with excellent internet facilities.
- The faculty is decent like any other engineering college with a mix of both good and below-average professors.
- The best part is that students won’t have to buy any study material from outside. You get 5 books from the college library for the entire semester and 3 additional books for a 15-day cycle.
- The food served in the mess is average but it's the same everywhere.
- The infrastructure is average but things are slowly getting better under the new director. New buildings and a swimming pool have been made.

What is the NIT Kurukshetra CS average package and the highest package?
I have a friend in NIT Kurukshetra who shared details of her accommodation there. The college is a fully residential campus perfect for nature lovers. The hostels for the first year students are

Girls Hostel - Alaknanda
All the above hostels are pretty old yet well-maintained due to frequent renovations and reprints. The rooms allotted are triple occupancy. The cost is very low and can easily be afforded by everyone. The hostels have decent internet connections second only to the network provided by the CCN (Centre for Computing and Networking), which contains the main server.
Every hostel has its own mess but the food served is below average. Most of the time you will have to eat from outside despite paying monthly mess charges.
Overall, these hostels have a good ambiance and will give you some of the best memories of your life.
How is NIT Delhi? Is it better than NIT Jamshedpur and Kurukshetra?
One of my friends is presently studying at NIT Kurukshetra, and he has a good idea about NIT Delhi. But he does not tell me more about NIT Jamshedpur, as he has limited knowledge about this institute.

- Presently, the college administration of NIT KKR has updated their curriculum, in which you have to read 6 core subjects in your first-year study. However, it will help you to get closer to your respective branch.
- Recently, the director of this institute, namely Dr. Satish Kumar. Since his appointment, this institute is progressing continuously. My friend told me that within 6months, he opened a swimming pool, which is Olympic Standards.
- The classes are completely air-conditioned, with an installation of a new supercomputer. Indeed, NIT KKR was not considered a good college a few years back, but these days it is not at all behind the other top institutes as it is developing gradually.
Besides, NIT Delhi is a newly opened institute with a temporary college campus. Someone mentioned that the students have to travel approximately 2 hours from their hostel room to the college rooms in NIT Delhi, which is quite tiresome. The Alumni Network is completely lagging as it is a new institute.
Additionally, NIT Jamshedpur provides good placement in comparison to NIT Kurukshetra. It is the only thing that supports the rankings of an institute, respecting other colleges. Another important thing is that if you are from Eastern Part, then opt for NIT Jamshedpur.
Is civil engineering at NIT, Kurukshetra better than CSE (computer science and engineering) at PEC University of Technology?
It's difficult to choose one between NIT Kurukshetra Civil and OEC Chandigarh CSE because both branches are different with diverse scopes and opportunities. You will have to consider a lot of parameters while choosing one of these
Personally I will suggest you opt for the CS branch unless you have any specific inclination towards civil engineering or any other branch. The excellent placements of this branch are not the only reason I am suggesting you go for it. The courses taught are rather easy and can be covered through self-study which may not be possible for Civil.
You are aware of the academic situation of most engineering colleges these days. Most professors have no interest in teaching. I believe that if you can get CS in PEC you can also get CS in NIT Kurukshetra. It has a better alumni network so it's a better option than PEC. Civil students will have options like research internships, masters or Ph.D. later, get into IES, etc.

How is NIT kurukshetra for Electrical Engineering?
The Department of Electrical Engineering at NIT Kurukshetra is considered quite decent because of the numerous opportunities it offers
- The EE department of NIT Kurukshetra has some of the best faculty members like Mr. Yash Pal who teaches Electrical Machines and Mr. Nakka who teaches Power Electronics.
- The Department of EE has amazing infrastructure and its labs are equipped with all modern instruments. In fact, NIT Jalandhar visits the campus every year because they don’t have labs like the electric drives lab, etc.
- The EE course is much similar to EEE thereby offering a wider range of opportunities
- Students in the 7th semester have to choose 1 departmental elective out of Power Systems, Information and Control, and Computer Applications. So you can study a subject of your choice in case you fail to upgrade your branch.
- PSUs have started recruiting directly from colleges apart from GATE so chances of getting decently placed have increased.

What should I choose between NIT Kurukshetra IT or NIT Delhi CSE?
NIT Kurukshetra IT is a much better choice than NIT Delhi CSE. IT is in fact a much better branch these days considering the syllabus of both branches.
- NIT Kurukshetra B.Tech ranking by NIRF is 58 out of 200 colleges in India in 2023.
- NIT Kurukshetra is as old as NIT Delhi so its infrastructure, alumni network, and brand name are at par with NIT Delhi.
- NIT Kurukshetra has air-conditioned classrooms, and well-maintained hostels and is located remotely in a serene area whereas NIT Delhi, is nowhere located near the city of Delhi.

If you think statistically, then PEC Chandigarh is better than NIT Kurukshetra. Considering this, the following reasons are listed:
- It is a reputed and A-Brand old institute of India, although it was established 100 years back.
- As per the NIRF data, the average salary package of this institute is also higher and can be compared with the old IITs.
- The growth rate is still undergoing since its infrastructural development had recently started.
- The students here get internship opportunities in top MNCs at International locations.
- Lastly, the extracurricular activities of this institute are huge.

How is the campus life at NIT Kurukshetra?
My friend recently completed her graduation from NIT Kurukshetra and shared her experience of campus life there. Here are some snippets from her campus life at NIT Kurukshetra
- The classes usually begin at 8:30 in the morning and every lecture lasts for 55 minutes. Students are given lunch breaks from 1:35 to 2:30 in the hostel. The classes for the day end at 4:30.
- The campus has 2 canteens near the lecture hall and also an NIT market that has a General store, a medical shop, an SBI bank branch, fruit and juice shop.
- There is also a sports complex where you can play any sport of your choice like cricket, kabaddi, football, Athletics, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, volleyball, and swimming. This sports complex also has a gymnasium hall.
- The annual sports meet is conducted every year in February or March.
- NIT Kurukshetra also has a Health Center within campus offering all basic facilities free of cost.
- There are separate hostels for boys and girls and boys aren’t allowed to enter the girls' hostel.
- Every stream has a separate block. There is a library on the campus that is open 24/7.
- The campus also has an open-air theater (OAT) for cultural festivals. Additionally, many clubs and societies are run by students for every branch.
- The institute follows the 75% attendance policy.
- The companies start visiting the campus for placements in the 7th semester. The training and placement cell handles the process efficiently.
Overall, life at NIT Kurukshetra is pretty vibrant and enjoyable.
