No, it isn’t difficult as such to switch branches after the first year, as most of us are unaware of the syllabus and whether it is going to suit our caliber and interest at the same time. Owing to this many opt out of their initially chosen branch.
Make sure where your interests lie and look for scopes in the future. You can easily check about the vacant seats from your college department, consult your principal or administration as well for the best advice and help.
No, there is no academic difference in the first and second shifts in MAIT. Faculty members are almost the same for both shifts. Students enrolled for the second shift are provided with the option to attend classes during the first shift. The opportunities provided by the college are also the same for the students of both shifts.
During placement and recruitment drives, both shifts are treated equally without any biases. Students generally choose and are advised to choose the first shift if provided with the choice.
The advantages of getting into the first shift over the second shift are as follows:
One of my friends was enrolled in the 2nd shift in MAIT and according to his experience, he did not have much difficulty with being enrolled in the second shift. Finally, the decision is up to you make based on your comfort and requirements.
MAIT is considered one of the best colleges of IP University. It is a decent option for pursuing B.Tech. It offers good facilities and resources to students.
The institute has a good placement record. According to the recent highlights, MAIT placements usually have an average CTC of INR 3.5 LPA. Mostly, companies from the IT sector visit the campus placements.
Mechanical engineering is amongst the major B.tech. Degree, provided by Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT).Admission to the four-year program is made on the basis of marks scored by the candidate in Jee Main(Joint Entrance Exam Main)and also on the basis of theIPU CET exam, conducted by the university.

Additional information giving NIT Kurukshetra an upper hand for Mechanical engineering:
There is not much of a major difference between those who get admitted through the management quota and those with a merit basis.
However, you need to be careful whenever you are getting some work done from the Accounts section whether it be academic-related work or any other work. Make sure you go alone because they usually ask you if you have been admitted through the management quota. But there is nothing to be ashamed of it. You should just utilize this opportunity to make MAIT proud of you.
There is no need to hide your management quota because nobody is going to ask you but when you score badly in the first semester which is around 60%, everything gets cleared in front of everyone.
MAIT is ranked 41st for BTech engineering by India Today, and Jamia is ranked 28th for engineering by the NIRF in 2020. The total seats for CSE in MAIT are 240 and Mechanical in Jamia has 70 seats. The yearly tuition fee at MAIT is 1.15 lakhs and Jamia is INR 12,000.
Admission:
Candidates need to sit for the JEE Main examination for entrance into any of the colleges.
For MAIT, students need to go through the GGSIPU counseling, and for Jamia, students need to go through the JMI Delhi counseling.
In 2019 the closing cut-off ranks for the institute were as follows.
MAIT, CSE |
42615 (Home State), 27611 (Other State) |
JMI, Mechanical Engineering |
41501 |
Placements:
MAIT:
The placement percentage of CSE at MAIT is 90%.
The highest salary package is around 25 LPA, and the lowest is 3 LPA.
The average salary package is 4-5 LPA.
Reputed companies like TCS, Infosys, Amazon, Accenture, Microsoft, and Wipro come for recruitment.
JMI:
For mechanical, placements are quite good at Jamia.
The mechanical department has a placement record of 70-80%.
More than 40 companies come to recruit students each year.
The average salary offered is around 5 LPA, and the highest salary that was offered in 2019 was around 12 LPA.
The companies that come for recruitment are L&T, Supergas, Hero, Blue Star, TCS, Wipro, Saint Gobain, Cummins, Siemens, Maruti Suzuki, M and M, and Anglo-Eastern.
Infrastructure:
MAIT:
At MAIT, the student to faculty ratio is around 70:1.
The library is massive, having access to hundreds of volumes and papers.
There are five canteens on campus, and the college has several sports facilities, including an indoor badminton court.
JMI:
The mechanical department at Jamia has its library and well-equipped labs.
The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Medical facilities are available 24*7.
Each department organizes sports week, and the mechanical department also has separate canteens.
Although in terms of placements and infrastructure both the colleges are on par, there is a factor of affordability. Jamia has one of the lowest tuition fees in Delhi. However, the decision depends on the students who need to take everything from academics to cultural aspects of the colleges into consideration.
One of my cousins is an ECE graduate of BVCOE (IPU). Here are her two cents about the placement at the institute.
Thus, if you have scored 70% or above with no backlog history, then the chances of you obtaining a job in any IT company are good. In addition, if you are good with programming, then your chances of getting placed in top IT companies will considerably be more.
In terms of placements, it can be said that MAIT is pretty average. My friend is a Mechanical Engineer and according to his input, he does not recommend this institute. Good placement opportunities are available at GL Bajaj, PIET, and even HMR which are better than MAIT. The faculty at these institutes support their students entirely unlike MAIT.
MAIT is no longer what it used to be 10 years back. Students who even get into MAIT aren't aware as they refer to old reviews and they have no one around them who could guide them.
Here are some issues at MAIT:
Considering all of these factors that I have mentioned, it would be wise to not choose MAIT, especially for the Core branch.
I have friends at both MAIT and DSCE, so I think I can give you some information about the institutes, which may be helpful.
Here are the recent placement statistics for the institutes.

Speaking about IT and CSE, both are almost the same with some changes in their base subjects. Some of my friends graduated with IT and CSE degrees. According to them, apart from the first and second year, it’s the same. There are more languages in CSE.

If you are interested in programming so the college best for this would be in the order: -
Infrastructure and Facilities wise, MAIT has well-equipped labs with all the modern technologies and a large campus. BVP has a good Campus which is situated right near the metro station at a distance of 15 meters which makes for better communication. MSIT comes 3rd when it comes to infrastructure.
