MA

Bachelor of Technology Information Technology, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (2016)

Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata is a very popular and reputed engineering institute of our country. One of my friends studied here. According to him, you can get admission through the management quota by giving some donations.

  • Generally, 10% of the total seats are reserved through the management quota.
  • If you have any connections with the college authorities or the admission council, then you can get admission through the general quota by giving some money.
  • For the IT branch, it went up to 12 lakhs, but if you are having good marks in class 10th and 12th, then you can bring it down to 9-10 lakhs.
  • For the ECE branch, it went up to 16 lakhs and for the CSE branch, it was around 10-16 lakhs depending upon the student’s qualifications.
  • The placement opportunities later available are amazing.
  • Top companies such as Wipro, TCS, Infosys visit the campus to recruit students.

Hence, if you are not able to make it to the merit list then you can get admission to Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata through donation. But do note that the amount is too high.

Bachelor of Technology Electronics and Communication Engineering,Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata

Heritage Institute of Technology is one of the most prominent institutions in West Bengal. Being spread in a vast area it has got on-campus accommodation for its students. There are a total of 4 hostels for boys and 6 hostels are for girls on-campus.

Following are the basic amenities offered at these:

  • Meals are provided 3 times a day. You can make your own mini-meals.
  • Facilities such as High-Speed Internet connectivity via Wi-Fi and/or LAN
  • Access to sporting and recreational zones.

Apart from this, you will also be able to find a few off-campus housing properties:

  • Private Housing: These are similar to on-campus housing facilities. The rooms are offered on a twin or triple sharing basis including food and internet. The rent for these rooms can range from INR 5000-5500. The names for few such hostels are M.B Hostel, Saraswati Hostel, And Vivekananda Hostel.
  • Shared Housing: For such rooms, you might have to share the rooms with 3-4 students. You have to arrange your own facilities. The rent will vary depending on the facilities available ranging from INR 3000-8000 per person.

All are equally beneficial. On-campus students however have strict norms regarding timing, which is not the case for those living in off-campus housing.

How can I get a hostel in Heritage Institute of Technology?

SG
Sudesna Ghosh Posted On : September 27th, 2021
Studied at Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata)

You can apply for the hostel during admission. While taking admission ask about the hostel facilities and they will guide you.

You should note that the hostel seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. So, if you need a hostel, try to get in as soon as possible. After you've been admitted, go to the relevant counter and pay a deposit.

However, I strongly advise you not to stay in a college hostel, particularly if you are a boy because the environment and amenities are inadequate. You can easily find pg may be in the RR Plot and Hussainpur area. These locations are close to the campus.

How tough is it to change your branch from IT to CSE in Heritage Institute of Technology?

AP
Avinash Pathak Posted On : September 22nd, 2021
Studies B.Tech in Information Technology at Heritage Institute of Technology, 2022

Your question can be based on whether or not you are strictly capable of maintaining a YGPA above 8.5 following the first year.

  • The subjects allotted in the first semester do share most of the things in common, alongside 2 additional courses.
  • Moreover, the subjects allotted in the second semester are equally as difficult as the subjects of the previous semester.
  • For students who particularly did not have a Computer in their +2, then the course area named “Introduction to C” can be trickier to ace since its preparation needs practice.
  • It is crucial to note that a YGPA of 8.5 does not guarantee the chance of switching from IT to CSE.
  • It generally interprets that there are supposed to be more than half the students who would be applying for a branch change, and out of them, the only candidates shortlisted belong from the top 5 to 6.

It is suggested that you maintain a YGPA between 8.75 to more than 9 so as to secure the chance of branch change. You can undeniably ace the same with about 5 weeks of definite effort before the semester exams.

How much hard work should I do to get on-campus placements at the Heritage Institute of Technology?

RC
Rishabh Chandani Posted On : September 15th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering,Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata (2020)

Some of my friends studied at Heritage Institute of Technology. According to them, getting into a decent company through campus recruitment from any of the private engineering colleges doesn’t necessitate much effort. Let me state some facts which may be useful to you.

  • No matter how hard you work, landing a solid job that matches your goals is really difficult.
  • Only a few good companies visit the campus, and those that do are almost always IT firms.
  • The college TPO will keep pressuring you to attend IT company campus drives, which most students would want to avoid if core firms came to recruit.
  • All companies require a minimum GPA of 6.5–7 in order to be considered for a campus drive.
  • You have no chance if you’re below that.
  • To get into a corporation, though, you must have at least an 8 GPA.
  • Companies do discriminate based on your grades, regardless of how much expertise you have.
  • You mess up one topic, putting your whole semester grades in jeopardy, and your portfolio suffers as a result.
  • Aside from your departmental studies, prepare and build aptitude skills.
  • The first round of the interview process is the most difficult because it depends not only on your personal abilities, but also on the computers and servers that you are utilizing at the time.
  • Your focus and general knowledge will get you to the following round.

TCS accepts a large number of ECE students from college. When compared to their core counterparts, IT firms recruitment processes are significantly more liberal and discriminatory.

In a word, you’ll need a GPA of at least 8 at the end of your sixth semester, strong aptitude skills, and a touch of luck can make you win a spot in the campus drive.

Heritage Institute of Technology,Kolkata

First Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata doesn’t conduct the BCA Course. It is hosted by The Heritage Academy, which is located on the same campus as the Heritage Trust. Yes, the level of instruction, as well as the environment and other features of this college, is really excellent. After high school, you need to have at least 75 percent grades in computer and English subjects, in order to apply for the course. If you are eligible visit the campus and fill out the form; if seats become available, you will be notified.

AH
Arjun Haldar Posted On : September 15th, 2021

Heritage Institute of Technology would be a better choice. Since it has become autonomous, it has advantages over institutes that are under WBUT.

  • Heritage will provide you very good exposures in both from the academic and the industrial point of view.
  • You will also be aided in your research and project oriented internships from the faculty.
  • It is one of the best institutes for pursuing engineering not only in Kolkata but in West Bengal.
  • The environment of HIT is also excellent for studies.
Categories Heritage Institute of Technology
Course Fee 4.04 lakh
Placement Percentage 80%
Highest CTC 21-24 LPA
Average CTC 12-15 LPA
Lowest CTC Tech Mahindra, TCS, Oracle, HCL, etc.

A lot of my friends studied there and they are very satisfied with the education and training they received. So it is suggested that you go for Heritage Institute of Technology.

How is the MTech (CSE) program in Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata? What are the placement stats for an MTech (CSE)?

RD
Raashi Das Posted On : September 23rd, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (2020)

Heritage Institute of Technology is a very popular and reputed engineering institute and provides very good facilities to its students. According to the reviews online, here’s what I got to know.

  • This college is very good to pursue B.Tech in CSE but not a good option to do M.Tech in CSE.
  • And this is not only for CS, but for all other departments.
  • Although the faculty and the academics are very good in this college, the placements for M.Tech are not upto the mark and it is better not to choose this college to pursue M.Tech.
  • To do M.Tech, it will be better to do it from IIT but you will have to appear for GATE exams to get admission in IITs.
  • And do note that you will have to be in the top 1000 in GATE to get selected for M.Tech courses at IIT.
  • In West Bengal, there is also Jadavpur University which can also be a very good option to pursue M.Tech in CSE.
  • You can also appear for the examination PGET and if you can clear this exam, then you will be eligible to take admission in any government engineering college under WBUT.

Hence, instead of taking admission in Heritage Institute of Technology for M.Tech in CSE, it will be better to prepare for GATE exam and qualify for IIT or else take admission in some other better colleges for M.Tech.

Does Heritage Institute of Technology has a gym?

SV

There is a gym in the hostel of Heritage Institute of Technology but it cannot be accessed by anyone unless you are any national-level athlete.

You can get permission from the sports authorities of the college but the process is so long and tedious. It is not worth the time and effort and there is no guarantee that you will get the permission.

However, you can get good gyms outside the campus. RR Plot, Hosseinpur, Anandpur areas have some good gyms. There is a gym called Asian Fitness Center, a 10-minute walk from the campus, and has an affordable membership fee.
