Studied at FTII Pune (2018)

Life gets quite boring after pursuing MBA from the Department of Management Sciences, Pune. One of my friends studied at the Department of Management Sciences, Pune, and I will state some facts about how graduating from PUMBA looks like.

After graduating from PUMBA you will miss all those days of fun that you have spent there. Late-night birthday parties, gossip with friends, you will surely gonna miss all those.

  • Once you step into the corporate world you will get no leisure time and work will be your first priority.
  • You cannot enjoy yourself at parties as you have a lot of workloads.
  • PUMBA students are well settled in their chosen sector after graduating.
  • You have to make your life by yourself and the institute cannot do much for you. It can guide you and prepare you, but ultimately it will depend on your capability.

Therefore, if you are thinking of joining the PUMBA, then go ahead with it. Life in college, as well as life after that, will be good.

Which should I prefer, Pumba or mitcon for pharma MBA?

AS

PGDM MBA- Marketing & Marketing, MITCON Institute of Management (2018)

You should definitely go ahead with MITCON without giving it too much thought. Placements at MITCON are quite great, with decent salary packages.

It offers a PGDM course, so the syllabus is not outdated and nor restricted. There are quite a few guest lectures organized by extremely qualified professionals that will surely help you in some way or the other.

As far as PUMBA is concerned, it is definitely a brand in itself for a regular MBA but you will have to ask a student that goes there. However, the Pharma and Agriculture PGDM courses at MITCON are much better. You will have good Pharma placements at MITCON. PUMBA on the other hand offers decent placement across various domains.

So, choose according to your convenience.

Why does PUMBA have less fees?

GS
Gaurav Sharma Posted On : April 18th, 2023
studied at Xavier School of Management

Due to its government institute status and government support, PUMBA has lower tuition than other B-schools. This lowers tuition fee, making it an affordable MBA program.

PUMBA students can pay fees in installments and get a strong return on investment (ROI). The laid-back atmosphere lets students pursue interests and extracurriculars. The typical crowd and learning experience are negatives. PUMBA is better for freshers than experienced professionals and lacks a Training and Placement Office (TPO), which may impair placement quality.

How is the placement scenario for MBA in operations at PUMBA?

AD
Aditi Deshpande Posted On : May 25th, 2023
Lives in Pune,Maharashtra

It is essential to be aware that the overall placement scenario at PUMBA, including all specializations, could be better. However, if you have a good conceptual understanding and average communication skills, you can expect a decent job with a salary range of 4 to 7 lakhs per annum.

In terms of placements specifically for operations management, you may face some challenges as most companies visiting the campus are focused on marketing and finance, and mainly on sales profiles. However, there are a few companies, such as TCS, TCS BPS, Infosys BPO, Premium Transmission, Orient Cement, and Ador Welding, that do recruit students from operations. The packages offered for these roles typically range from 4 to 6.5 lakhs per annum, depending on your previous work experience.

Additionally, the batch size for Operations Management is relatively small, which can sometimes make it more challenging to attract companies to the campus. However, if you have a genuine interest in learning Operations Management and are prepared to face some challenges, then PUMBA can still be a good option for you.

What is the process for an MBA from PUMBA, for non-Maharashtrians?

SG
Sarita Gupta Posted On : June 23rd, 2021
MBA from Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune (2019)

MBA colleges in Maharashtra reserve a large portion of seats for the students of Maharashtra Domicile. Over the years the reserved category has reduced but to date, it is more than half of the total seats.

  • For the previous year, 75% of the seats were reserved for the students for Maharashtra domicile and the rest was for All India Category.
  • This in turns results in very high cut-offs in All India Category near about 98+ percentile.
  • For MBA in PUMBA you need to appear in any of the following exams conducted across the country - CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT or MH-CET.

When the results are out you have to register on the DTE Maharashtra website to avail domicile benefit. Fill in the preferences and the colleges you want to get in.

What are the chances of a non- Maharashtra student of getting SIMSREE, KJSIMR, Welingkar and PUMBA?

AD
Aditi Deshpande Posted On : May 5th, 2023
Lives in Pune,Maharashtra

Quite good and honestly, most non-Maharastra students tend to not take admissions beyond these 5–6 colleges. You may have to score in the range of 98%ile to 99.9 to get into some of these colleges.

There are fair chances of Non - Maharashtra students of getting the above-mentioned colleges under All India Category seats as per DTE Maharashtra for MS and PGDM programs. In colleges such as SIMSREE & PUMBA, more seats are reserved for students from Maharashtra as compared to seats for students from the All India category. You can refer to the DTE Maharashtra website for more information.

It depends on your perspective. You will get the best ROI in PUMBA but, here I would like to throw some light on certain other factors that you need to know.

  1. PUMBA is completely student-driven. All the departments and even the placements are looked at by the students under the Corporation Relation and Placement Cell.
  2. You can work according to your area of interest for the cells. There is a Communication Cell on the campus, which deals with internal as well as external communication of PUMBA. So, if you want to learn corporate communication, the cell can help you out.
  3. There is a Seminar Cell and Cultural Cell, so if your area of interest is arranging events then, you can join it.
  4. The Alumni Relation Cell works at maintaining a good relationship with the alumni of the college in different ways such as by organizing events, personally contacting them and also, via social media.
  5. The institution provides good placement opportunities in the summer internships as well as the final placements. However, you need to remember that placement depends on individual capabilities. Here are the recent placement highlights in brief.
