Which choice is better, IT in Jadavpur University or chemical in NIT Surathkal or Warangal?
Jadavpur University, NIT Surathkal, and NIT Warangal all of these institutes are well reputed and offer quality education. Below mentioned are certain points that can be kept in mind while choosing a college between these three.

IT at Jadavpur University:
There are a total of 8 teachers with PhDs or D.Sc. and a total of 12 teachers with a master’s degree for the department.
- Admission is done on the basis of the rank obtained in WBJEE.
- In 2019 the closing cutoff for IT was 183.
The total number of seats that are offered in B.E (information technology) is 65. There are a total of 9 mid-range servers in the programming laboratory, in the software engineering laboratory there are 120 desktops present.
Placements:
In the year 2015-2016 Jadavpur university had the best placement records as compared to the other departments in the college. The average CTC received by the students of IT was 12.34 LPA.
Chemical Engineering at NIT Surathkal:
In the chemical engineering department, there are 16 teachers that teach the students.
- The admission to this college is done on the JEE marks.
- In 2019 the closing cutoff for Chemical Engineering was 13820 (other states) and 17679 (home state).
College provides its students with the best infrastructure that is required to pursue a chemical engineering course.
Placement:
- The average placement in 2019 was 4 LPA.
- The Highest CTC received by the students was 49 LPA.
Chemical Engineering in NIT Warangal:
NIT Warangal is popular due to its extensive and rigorous teaching and also it has an extensive placement record.
- Admission is done through the JOSAA counseling, also the marks obtained in JEE mains.
- For Chemical Engineering the closing JEE cutoff for 2019 was 14401.
Placement:
- The average package offered was 6.15 LPA and the highest package was 15 LPA.
- The top recruiters that visit the college include GSK, Walmart, Verizon, JSW L&T, DLF, Punj Llyod, Aditya Birla Group.
These are the things that need to be considered while choosing between these three institutes, as for which choice will be better for you, you should be the one to decide that.
How does the computer science branch of BITS, Goa compare to NIT Warangal?
If you are considering pursuing a computer science engineering program, it would be suggested that you consider both BITS Pilani Goa Campus and NIT Warangal. Both colleges offer excellent CSE departments and have a great coding culture at BPGC.
NIT Warangal would be the better choice for you. This is because BITS has only three campuses in India (four if you count Dubai), while there is an NIT in every state, and admission to these colleges is governed by state quotas. As a result, BPGC has the potential to overtake every NIT, except for the top 5-7 colleges. Nonetheless, both BITS Goa and NIT Warangal are currently excellent options for pursuing CSE.
If cost is an important factor for you, NIT Warangal might be the more suitable option, as it provides relatively low-cost education. However, the decision of which college to choose ultimately depends on you, and you should take all relevant factors into account before making a decision.
Which has better hostel facilities, NIT Surathkal or NIT Warangal?
One of my relatives has resided in NIT Warangal hostels. Based on his experience, I can give the following information:
- NIT Warangal has Asia's biggest hostel and it is given to B.Tech, M.Tech, and BCA freshers. There are both single and double rooms.
- On the ground floor, there is a snacks corner, Amul shop, and coffee and tea shops as well. This is a hangout place for all the students.
- There is another big hostel which is given to 3rd and 4th-year students with single and double rooms.
- For girls, the hostels are not as good as the boys’ hostels.
- In the first year, you will be accommodated with 4 people in one room due to space issues.
- You will also be restricted from moving out of the hostel at any time during 1st year.
- For the second-year students, an old hostel is provided where the washrooms desperately need renovation and the rooms are not in good condition.
- For 3rd and 4th year, you might get good rooms which will be spacious and comfortable. Although new hostels are being developed, the facilities might change in the coming years.
When talking about NIT Surathkal, the hostel facilities are fine. In the 1st and the 2nd year, you will have sharing rooms. From the 3rd year onwards you will get single accommodations. Internet connectivity in the hostels is not very good. The girls are provided washing machines. There is a night canteen on the hostel premises. For boys, there are no in and out timings.
Which college is better for an MBA (in terms of education and placements), IMT Nagpur or NIT Warangal?
The following are the reasons why you should pick IMT Nagpur over NIT Warangal:
- Placement Statistics: IMT Nagpur has an average salary of around 7.64 lakhs against 5.56 lakhs for NIT Warangal. This is a significant difference and indicates that IMT Nagpur has a better track record when it comes to placing its students in good companies with decent packages.
- NIRF Ranking: IMT Nagpur is ranked 70 in the top 100 B-schools according to the NIRF Ranking, while NIT Warangal does not have a spot yet.
- Batch Size: IMT Nagpur has a batch size of 300+ against 30 odd students at NIT Warangal. While a larger batch size may make it more challenging to secure placements for every student, it also means that there will be more opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, group activities, and networking.
- Foundation Year: IMT Nagpur has been growing exponentially even though it started 4 years after the Management Department at NIT Warangal. IMT Nagpur has been able to establish itself as a reputed institute in a relatively short period of time, which is a testament to its academic standards, faculty, and student achievements.
- Management Education: While NIT Warangal is a pioneer institute for Technical Education, it has a lot of boxes to fill to do well in the area of Management Education. NIT Warangal may not have as much experience or expertise in offering an MBA program as IMT Nagpur does.
IMT Nagpur also has good faculty, student-run ventures, and flexible courses, which can provide a holistic experience that MBA aspirants are looking for. These factors can contribute to a more enriching and fulfilling MBA experience, which can be as important as securing good placements.
Is NIT Warangal’s biotechnology better than NIT Manipur’s CSE?
NIT Warangal is ranked 46 overall and 19 for BTech by NIRF 2020. They have a faculty strength of 302 members and a student population of 5010.
NIT Manipur ranks 158th for BTech by NIRF 2020. It is an autonomous institute recognized by UGC and AICTE. It has a faculty strength of 72 members, 40 of them being PhD holders.
Biotechnology in NIT Warangal and CSE in NIT Manipur both are full time courses for a duration of 4 years.

- Applicants should have at least 75% in their 10+2 qualifying exams with PCM with a valid score in JEE Main.
- For MTech applicants 60% in BTech or BE is required with a valid score in GATE.

- The companies recruiting for Biotechnology students are Biocon, GlaxoSmithKline, Cadila Healthcare, Reliance Life Sciences, etc.
- Students can also join research institutions like NEERI, CCMB, NCL, CSIR, etc.
- The highest salary offered to the students was 16-17 LPA.
NIT Manipur
- 20 companies visited the campus and 50 students were placed.
- ZolaCode was the star recruiter.
- Other recruiters include Lamzing Infosystem, Microsoft, Virtusa, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Capgemini, Johnson Controls, BPCL, etc.

- The campus is 240+ acres.
- They have 590+ machines in the computer centre.
- The central library has over 179797 lakh paper-based books and 2000 online journals.
- They provide accommodation like guest houses, Healthcare, Bank and ATM and transportation facilities.
NIT Manipur
- The campus is more than 300 acres.
- They have 2 boys hostel and 1 girls hostel.
- They have several sports grounds and courts.
- They also have necessary healthcare facilities, ATM, Bank and a centralised library consisting of 24,444 books and 81 journals.
Both the NITs are equally good. Though due to the rapidly growing corporate industry there is a huge demand for computer engineers or CSE graduates. It is considered the most preferred engineering course among others. Biotechnology unlike CSE does not have the same amount of popularity among students as well as professionals. But ultimately it depends on the students and their preferences.
Should I choose BITS Goa or NIT K/W/T?
BITS Goa is better than NIT K/W/T.
- A great factor about BITS is the process of admission is executed based on the merit of the candidates, and not based on the system of reservation which is being followed by many institutions in India.
- The institution has adopted the curriculum of the courses from MIT.
- The student crowd is very good at BITS.
- My friend is a graduate of the institution and claims that the infrastructure of the college campus is among the best in India.
- The placement of the institution is also extremely good in comparison with many IITs and NITs of India. The placement statistics of BITs Goa are mentioned in the table below for reference.

In general, NIT Warangal is better in terms of placements, crowd quality, infrastructure, and faculty. Both institutes, however, have a similar ROI. NIT Surathkal hasn't released its placement statistics for the MCA program, so I have mentioned that of NIT Warangal only.

The placement percentage of NIT Warangal MCA placements stood at 96% while the same for NIT Surathkal stood at 88%. It clearly proves that NIT Warangal is a better option for MCA than NIT Surathkal. Moreover, in NIT Surathkal you will have to spend an extra year and spend extra money.
Which is better for good placements, NIT Warangal for Civil or JNTUH for CSE?
NIT Warangal is a renowned college. You can choose it if the NIT tag matters to you. Even civil students can sit for some IT companies during campus placements at NITW. But for that, you’ll have to take out time and study the important concepts of CS. The civil curriculum is good at NITW, but you’ll face difficulty in getting a core job.
On the other hand, JNTUH is also a good college. If studying CSE is your passion, you should choose this option. In this case, don’t seek the college name, and instead, opt for your branch of interest.
JNTUH will offer you good placements, and so will NITW. But if you choose Civil, you might not get a core job. You’ll have to learn coding on your own to land a good IT job during campus placement.
How is chemical engineering in BITS Pilani, Goa campus (placements, peer group, etc.), compared to NIT Warangal, Trichy, etc.?
As one of my friends studied at NIT Trichy, I might favor it among the others. Also I do not have much idea about the other mentioned colleges. Do interact with some ex-students of these colleges to get a proper understanding of them.
Let me share why I favor pursuing Chemical Engineering at NIT Trichy over other colleges:
- The student crowd at NIT Trichy is really good and diverse. People from different cultural backgrounds come to study here.
- They have a strong alumni network.
- The seniors are extremely cooperative and helpful.
- They also have an experienced faculty.
- Placements at NIT Trichy are great. Students get several opportunities in different sectors.

Therefore, it is suggested that you go for Chemical Engineering at NIT Trichy. It is a reputed institution and will help you in shaping your future ahead. It is the best among all the NITs.
Which is better for EC, NIT Calicut or NIT Warangal?
If you consider the official rankings, then NIT Warangal is better than NIT Calicut. But the reality is far from this. I don’t think the official rankings are credible enough to judge a college. Students need to consider other aspects also while choosing their college. For instance, proximity to home and the location of the college play a big role. That being said, Calicut is a great city with a good location. It has many places to explore such as restaurants and parks.
Students can also visit Goa which is quite close and enjoy short vacations on the beaches. good city and has some amazing restaurants. Also, Goa is nearby and so are many beach locations.
However, NIT Calicut has strict attendance criteria. So choose wisely!
