New Delhi: The Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has officially inaugurated GD Goenka University's Centre for Excellence in Occupational Health, Safety, Fire & Environment (C-OHSFE).

The center aims to advance the study of occupational health, safety, and risk engineering. Mr. Thakur inaugurated the facility during his visit to the GD Goenka University as the Chief Guest for the 9th Convocation Ceremony.

Notable figures from the education and industry sectors joined the event, witnessing the unveiling of C-OHSFE's advanced infrastructure and facilities.

Aircraft Model: The establishment is furnished with a Crash Fire Tender (CFT) designed for firefighting during aircraft landings, reducing the potential fire hazards.

Vertical Oil Storage Tank: A Vertical Oil Storage Tank, featuring a foam pourer system, has been positioned in the fire drill ground to mitigate fire-related risks in industries with diverse types of tanks.

Conﬁned Space Entry Model: The focus on worker safety in confined spaces is emphasized through the incorporation of a model designed for confined space entry and rescue training.

Smoke House: A specialized Smoke House replicates real-life scenarios encountered during building fires, delivering authentic training experiences for rescue operations in environments featuring smoke, fumes, and vapors.

Different Categories of Fire Trays: Demonstrations at the fire drill ground provide live examples of various fire types, instructing students on the correct application of fire extinguishers tailored to different classes of fires.

Fire Lab: The cutting-edge Fire Lab encompasses a range of firefighting equipment, fire suits, Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), fire detectors, hydrant accessories, and fire extinguishers for practical, hands-on demonstrations.

Industrial Hygiene Lab: Outfitted with advanced monitoring instruments, the lab includes Combo PM 10 and PM 2.5 samplers, a Handy Sampler for air monitoring, a Sound level meter, a Benzene sampler, a Multi-gas analyzer, a Stack Sampler, and Weather Monitoring equipment designed for hands-on practical applications.
