Thapar University hosted the 37th Convocation. On this occasion, a total of 2,406 BE, BTech, BBA and BA, 26 BEMBA, 102 PhD, 152 ME and MTech, 81 MSc, 50 MCA, 31 MA, 188 MBA, 2 BSc and 1 PG diploma students were awarded degrees.

New Delhi: Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), also known as Thapar University Patiala has awarded a total of 3000 degrees to graduating students of its UG and PG programs at the 37th convocation ceremony. 

In addition to this, 41 students of Thapar University were awarded medals for their outstanding and meritorious academic, scholastic and all-around performance. Degrees were conferred to 2,406 BE, BTech, BBA, and BA students, as well as 26 BEMBA, 102 PhD, 152 ME and MTech, 81 MSc, 50 MCA, 31 MA, 188 MBA, 2 BSc, and 1 PG diploma students.

BE and BTech Student Received President’s Medal

At the 37th convocation ceremony, Snehil Mittal, a final-year BE and BTech student with a CGPA of 9.98, was awarded the President's medal for the academic year 2022-2023. She received the V Rajaraman Computer Science and Engineering Award for 2022-2023.

A student of Thapar University, Jappreet Kaur received the S. Ranbir Singh gold medal as the All-Round Best Student for the academic year 2022-2023. Puneet Singh was awarded the S Ram S Sidhu Memorial Medal for the fiscal year 2022-2023. 

Speaking on this occasion, the Director of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology Patiala, Padmakumar Nair greeted the students and gave the institute's annual report. He further congratulated the students for their achievements.

Thapar University Alumni Award

Along with students, Thapar University offered alumni awards to Tarun Kapoor and Robin Raina, students of 1979-83 and 1985-90 batches. Meeta Rajivlochan, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports attended the event as a guest of honour.

Director Padmakumar Nair said, “TIET continues to be ranked high in all global and Indian rankings, especially in the subject rankings for computer science and engineering. We continue to hold our high Indian rank as reflected in the 2023 NIRF Rankings where we were placed at the 20th position amongst the top engineering institutions in the country. We were ranked 22nd among all Universities in India.”

Adding to the statement, Rajeev Ranjan Vederah, Chairman of Board of Governors of TIET Patiala, said, “The institute is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after engineering universities of the country today. The name “Thapar” owing to its rich legacy has become a big Brand, and this explains why students from all parts of the country make a beeline to get enrolled in this prestigious institute”.
