SKIT Receives Autonomous Status for 10 Years: First Engineering College to Get this Affiliation in Rajasthan

New Delhi: Swami Keshavanand Institute of Technology, Management and Gramothan (SKIT) in Rajasthan becomes the first autonomous engineering college in the state under affiliation with Rajasthan Technical University (RTU). The recognition is granted for ten years from 2024-25 session to the 2033-34 sessions.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) approved autonomy for SKIT on April 24, 2024, and RTU officially approved it on May 2, 2024. During the autonomy period, SKIT was empowered to design its syllabus for offered courses.

SKIT’s Affiliation as First Autonomous Engineering College Objective

This affiliation enables SKIT to design course curricula independently. RTU confers degrees to ensure credibility and standardization. The recognition reflects SKIT's commitment to excellence and readiness to adapt to evolving educational needs.

SKIT Chairman Surajaram Meel emphasizes the preparation of syllabuses based on global standards and introducing semester-long industry internships to enhance practical learning. This also requires that the course schedules and results are released on time and that the academic calendar is adhered to for efficient course delivery.

This autonomous status to SKIT is the first step towards engineering education in Rajasthan. With the autonomy granted for a decade, SKIT can shape its curriculum to meet industry demands and global standards.

RTU Vice-Chancellor Professor SK Singh said that there is a demand for the industry-ready student market. He further highlighted the SKIT's high grades, NBA accreditation, and consistent top ranking in RTU QIV for seven years. The recognition is further attributed to excellent infrastructure and facilities for engineering education.
