Seven faculty members of IIIT-Delhi were featured in the list of Top 2% Most Influential Scientists (Single Year) in 2023: Analysis of Indian Researchers, a study published by researchers at Stanford University.

Seven Faculty Members from IIIT Delhi Get Featured in Most Influential Scientists

New Delhi: The faculty members of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Delhi, have achieved remarkable recognition. Seven faculty members' names were featured in the list of “Top 2% Most Influential Scientists (Single Year) in 2023, “ Analysis of Indian Researchers" conducted by researchers from Stanford University.”

The names of these faculty members are Dr. Angshul Majumdar, Prof. Anubha Gupta, Prof. GPS Raghava, Dr. Md Shad Akhtar, Dr. Rajiv Ratn Shah, Dr. Sanjit K. Kaul, and Dr. Tanmoy Chakraborty.

The inclusion of seven faculty members from IIIT Delhi in this prestigious list is a remarkable achievement for the institution. Prof f. John PA Loannidis and his colleagues at Stanford University disclose the list of 2% of Most Influential Scientists for 2023. The list contains researchers from different countries and research fields and it contains more than 2 lakh researchers from all over the world out of which 3500 are Indian researchers.

IIIT Delhi's Featured Scientists

  • Angshul Majumdar completed his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in 2012 and finished his thesis in a record time of less than two years. His research interests are in algorithms and applications of sparse signal recovery and low-rank matrix recovery. 
  • Prof. Anubha Gupta earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 2006. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in ECE from Delhi University in 1991 and 1997, respectively. Commencing her professional journey, she held the role of Assistant Director at All India Radio (via Indian Engineering Services) from 1993 to February 1999.
  • Dr. G. P. S. Raghava completed his M.Tech degree from IIT Delhi and PhD from the Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh. He worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at Oxford University UK (1996-98), a Bioinformatics specialist at UAMS, USA (2002-3 & 2006), and a visiting professor at POSTECH, South Korea (2004). 
  • Md. Shad Akhtar completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Patna in 2019. He received his M.Tech from IIT (ISM), Dhanbad in 2014, and BEng from JMI, New Delhi, in 2009. 
  • Rajiv Ratn Shah obtained his M.Tech. from Delhi Technological University and his MCA from Jawaharlal Nehru University, both located in Delhi. He received his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the National University of Singapore, Singapore. 
  • Sanjit K. Kaul received the B.Tech. degree in electronics and communications engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, in 2000 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Rutgers University in 2011.
  • Mr Tanmay Chakarborty completed his Ph.D. as a Google India Ph.D. fellow in the Dept. of CSE, IIT Kharagpur, India in Sept, 2015. He was at the University of Maryland for one and a half years as a postdoctoral researcher. Xerox Research India and IBM Research India have acknowledged his Ph.D. thesis as the best in its category.
