President Droupadi Murmu Addresses 9th Convocation of ILBS Delhi on December 27

New Delhi: The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in New Delhi has successfully organised its 9th Convocation on December 27, 2023. The convocation was honoured by Droupadi Murmu, President of India, who urged ILBS to keep striving in the field of research and providing affordable world-class health services.

Addressing the gathering, the President remarked that ILBS Delhi has established its name in only 13 years through world-class efficiency and integrity. So far, the institute has completed over 1000 liver transplants and approximately 300 kidney transplants.

She stated that thanks to institutes like the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, India is becoming an international healthcare powerhouse by delivering world-class health services at a reasonable cost.

In her speech, she highlighted the importance of biological sciences and information technology for developments in the healthcare area and added that the construction of an artificial intelligence learning unit at ILBS Delhi is a crucial move for research and development.

Adding to the statement, Droupadi Murmu said, “There is a need to pay more attention to preventive healthcare. Health problems related to the liver are serious in our country and the huge number of diseases caused by them is a cause for worry. ILBS is expected to make a significant contribution to the prevention of liver diseases”.
