The foundation stone of the permanent NIT Goa campus was laid by the late Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar on December 15, 2018. The construction project was completed in 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Education.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa at Cuncolim on February 6, 2024. The institute started its academic activities at the campus for even-semester students on January 08, 2024.

The NIT Goa campus in Cuncolim is built in an area of 70,750 square meters with a construction budget of INR 390.83 Crore. Before this, the institute was operating from a temporary facility at the Goa Engineering College in Farmagudi since its establishment in 2010.

The campus offers key facilities such as a tutorial complex, departmental complex, seminar complex, administrative complex, hostels, health centre, staff quarters, amenity centre, and sports ground among other utilities. As of now, the campus has a student capacity of 1260.

The inauguration event was attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradesh, Goa Governor Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, Waterways and Tourism Shripad Naik; MP of South Goa Francisco Sardinha; and Leader of Opposition and MLA from Cuncolim Yuri Alemao among other officials.

Earlier, the foundation stone of the NIT Goa campus was laid by the late Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar in the presence of Prakash Javadekar, Former Union Human Resource Development Minister on December 15, 2018. The construction project was completed in 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Education.
