MDI Gurgaon 3 PG programmes derecognised by AICTE

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has recently derecognised three of MDI Gurgaon postgraduate programmes for violation of the rules regarding the duration of these programmes.

The official body has derecognised MDI Gurgaon’s postgraduate programmes in energy management and public policy management and the postgraduate diploma in management (the executive management programme).

After the action of AICTE, there has been a significant reduction in the number of seats of programmes.

Earlier, a total of 770 seats were approved for eight programmes which have now been reduced to 500 seats by AICTE for violation of its guidelines.

According to AICTE order, the approval for the postgraduate programs in public policy management and energy management was for two years while MDI Gurgaon was offering it as executive management programs for 15 months.

Similarly, the duration of on-campus classes for the executive management program is 15-18 months, while MDI Gurgaon was running it for 12 months. 

Furthermore, as per the guideline of AICTE, the public policy management program is only for public officials of the central and state governments as well as for civil servants and, the energy management program is aimed to “prepare visionary leaders for the energy sector.

However, the institute on its website has mentioned that working professionals and entrepreneurs could also take up the executive management programme.
