New Delhi: On March 06, the consular section of the Embassy of the United States made a special visit to Lucknow University (LU) to discuss how the university secures its degrees against degree-related crimes such as false mark sheets and degree fraud.
The US Embassy team was directed by Fraud Prevention Managers Sarah Ancas and Isha Kapoor, who engaged with administrative and academic officials of LPU. The discussion covered growing concerns regarding scams and fraudulent activity at the US embassy.

LPU Highlights Fraud-Resistant Features in Academic Documents
During the visit, the LPU Registrar, Dean of Academics, as well as other university officials shared the LPU's fraud prevention mechanisms implemented in mark sheets. These safety steps include high-resolution design, anti-copy and anti-scanning ink, hologram, and online verification QR code.
Additionally, the degree has a micro-text/micro-lettering, UV invisible printing (Original/Logo), variable barcode, a coloured photograph of students, a rainbow-coloured background, an anti-copy watermark, and a university logo that prevents any fraud. Following the 2019 mark sheet fraud, LU implemented these extra features.
Commenting on the importance of fraud prevention, Prof Alok Kumar Rai, LU vice-chancellor, acknowledged the significance of fraud prevention education in today's world and highlighted the university's commitment to supporting efforts to establish a safer digital environment for students. He encouraged the embassy to reach out to LU students through outreach events organised by the embassy.
