SN Sankhwar has been appointed the new director of the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He is a urologist and head of the department (HoD) of urology, at Kings George Medical University, Lucknow.
New Delhi: Prof. Sanjay Nath Sankhwar, a professor at King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, has been appointed as the Director of the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) at Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
The appointment of Prof. Sanjay Nath Sankhwar as the Director of IMS BHU is a momentous occasion for the institution. Sankhwar holds the position of Chief Medical Superintendent at KGMU as well.
According to the official statement, “He has vast administrative experience and is known for his medical and academic accomplishments. His areas of expertise are general urology, male infertility, endourology, and female urology.”

Prof. Sanjay Nath Sankhwar has been actively involved in various academic and administrative capacities at King George Medical University.
At present, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, IMS, is officiating as the director of the institute. Prof. Sanjay Nath Sankhwar will be in a tenure of five years as a director.

The statement added that “Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, is an AIIMS-like institution and is in the process of upgrading its infrastructure, medical and research facilities and patient care. The institute is expected to get a fillip in its ongoing efforts of excellence under the leadership of Sankhwar.”
