Jaipur National University Receives Approval to Establish Offshore Campus in Dubai

New Delhi: Jaipur National University has received the approval of the Ministry of Education to establish an off-shore campus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The university is required to accept the UGC norms and conditions before starting the academic session at the Dubai campus.

The approval was given after the ministry carefully reviewed the university's request to establish an off-shore campus under the rules of the University Grants Commission's (UGC) Establishment and Maintenance of Standards in Private Universities Regulations, 2003.

In a letter to Jaipur National University, the Department of Higher Education Informed, “After consideration, this Ministry conveys its no objection to the establishment of an Off-Shore Campus Centre of Jaipur National University at Dubai, United Arab Emirates”.

“There shall be no diversion of financial resources from the revenues generated in the domestic campus of Jaipur National University, Jaipur and there shall be no cross-subsidization of education at the Off-shore Campus by the domestic Campus at Jaipur, Rajasthan or its Constituent Units, if any, in any form,” it added.

The university is asked to follow the UGC norms and conditions closely for the establishment of an offshore campus. The campus must have sufficient academic and physical infrastructure and there should not be any diversion of faculty or academics from the existing campus, the ministry added.

To ensure all the requirements are met, the government will visit the campus for verification of infrastructure facilities, programs, faculty, financial viability and others. The government will allow land leases in the name of the university or land in the name of a strategic partner to establish the campus if a lease is not allowed in the UAE.
