Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) and the National Institute of Technology Technology Hamirpur (NITH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate student exchange, academic cooperation, and research collaboration among faculty members. 

As part of the signed agreement, there are several opportunities of engagement to support faculty, students, and research.

Selected meritorious students of NITH would get an opportunity to be part of the Summer Research Internship Programme (SRIP) at IITGN, every year. After the successful completion of the programme, students will be benefited by stipend. 

Furthermore a provision for BTech students of NITH is to study a semester at the IITGN under the non- degree programme. The credits acquired during the studies shall be transferred to NITH.

The collaboration between IITGN and NITH will significantly benefit faculty and students of both the institutes. As per the agreement, up to two final year BTech students of NITH have the added advantage of consideration by IITGN, for their admission in the Start Early PhD programme. Upon selection, the aspirants can join the programme early in their 7th or 8th semester under the non-degree programme.

The MoU would also enable the faculty to boost their academic and research pursuits. Every year, two NITH faculty members per year can join IITGN for research and academic collaboration with IITGN faculty members.

Sharing his thoughts, Prof Sudhir K Jain, Director, IITGN, said that the inclusive approach will welcome various academic institutions towards them. The partnership will surely benefit both students and faculty for their academic and research pursuits.

Lalit Kumar Awasthi Director, NIT Hamirpur stated that the MoU offers new academic and research opportunities for the meritorious and talented students and faculty. A sustainable and successful partnership with the academic institutions will open up new perspectives in the education system.
