IISc Partners with Mercedes-Benz for Cutting-Edge Research Collaboration

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to combine academic and industry innovation to explore new ideas and push the limits of research and technology

As per IISc, this partnership will be focused on supporting innovation and pursuing long-term research initiatives. IISc and Mercedes-Benz will benefit from each other's resources, including infrastructure and academic curriculum as a part of this MoU.

The two-year agreement includes the exchange of information exchange, educational resources, technological and scientific publications, as well as cooperative financing opportunities to publish articles, produce and protect intellectual property, and finance research.

In addition to this, this collaboration will facilitate joint research, foster talent, and promote collaborative innovation in sustainable transportation, with the objective of "solving global problems locally."

Views on IISc and Mercedes-Benz Collaboration

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Govindan Rangarajan, Director of Indian Institute of Science said, “We look forward to collaborating with Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India in the area of sustainable mobility and electric vehicles.

“Research and innovation in this area promote energy independence and create economic opportunities. The partnership reinforces our commitment to strengthen industry-academia engagements that can make a significant impact in the coming years”, he further added.

This industry-academia collaboration is an important step towards Mercedes-Benz's Ambition 2039, which aims to make the entire fleet of new vehicles net carbon-neutral throughout the full value chain and life cycle by 2039.
