IIM Nagpur Convocation 2024 Concluded, Women Comprise 43% of Graduating Students

IIM Nagpur witnessed a surge in female students with 43% of women graduating as regular MBA students, compared to just 22% in the 2021-23 batch.

New Delhi: The IIM Nagpur organised the 8th convocation for graduating students of the MBA batch on May 10, 2024. On this occasion, executive MBA degrees were distributed to another 31 students. The first batch consisted of 53 students, including three women.

IIM Nagpur witnessed women constituting nearly 43% of the graduating regular MBA students in this batch, which marked a significant increase compared to the previous year. In the 2021-23 batch, only 52 out of 234 students, about 22%, were women. 

Speaking during the convocation as the chief guest, Founder-Chairman and Managing Director of Persistent Systems Anand Deshpande, said that the students are responsible for how their careers are shaped. Highlighting that it is an "exponential world with technology transforming rapidly", he said that the companies in the long run have shorter lives with some exceptions. 

Further, he elaborated on the importance of 10-year cycles in one’s career, advising students to learn to network in the first ten years. In the second decade, they should become an "expert in something", followed by being a person who should be clear about where to go and “what your corner office is” In the third decade, and the fourth decade were all about mentoring the new generation and contributing to society followed by becoming job creators.
