The IIM Kozhikode’s largest MBA batch of 2024-26 comprises 60% women students setting a new record in IIMK’s history. This is the first time, more than half of the batch is women students.

IIM Kozhikode Sets Record with 60 Percent Women in MBA Batch of 631 Students

New Delhi: The IIM Kozhikode has enrolled 59% female students in its largest-ever MBA batch for 2024-26 counting to 631 total students (including 15 international students). This reinforces IIMK's leadership in diversity among Indian B-Schools. The batch includes a significant 45% non-engineers and 34% freshers. The Chief Guest Mr. Arun Kohli, Managing Director and Country Head of India, Morgan Stanley congratulated the new batch for cracking the tough selection process and joining this leading B-School. The Director of IIM Kozhikode, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee highlighted the institute's commitment to gender diversity and inclusive education.

What is the Breakdown of the New Batch of IIM Kozhikode?

The IIM Kozhikode 2024-26 MBA batch includes:

28th batch of PGP: 497 students
5th batch of PGP-Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM): 53 students (58% female)
5th batch of PGP-Finance (PGP-F): 53 students
18th batch of Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD): 28 students (13 female)

What are the Academic and Regional Diversity of IIM Kozhikode’s New MBA Batch?

IIM Kozhikode excels in academic diversity with 45% of the flagship cohort and 49% of the combined MBA programs coming from students with non-engineering backgrounds. Students hail from diverse fields like sciences, humanities, arts, commerce, medicine, pharmacy, law and chartered accountancy. The batch also includes 34% freshers and the remaining 66% have an average work experience of 2 years.

Students come from 28 states and union territories with 75% from non-metro areas. The highest number of students have come from Maharashtra (79) followed by Uttar Pradesh (43) and Kerala (41).

What was the Director’s Reaction on this?

Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, expressed pride in the institute's gender diversity achievements. He highlighted that the nearly 60% female enrollment is the highest in IIM Kozhikode's history. He also emphasized the importance of an inclusive academic community.

Prof. Chatterjee spoke about the 3 Es: Ekagrata (Focus), Ecological Vision (a larger perspective for a larger time frame) and Excellence at Work (reflection follows action).

Innovative Programs and Orientation

The new batch was introduced to IIMK through an innovative immersion program from June 17, 2024 to June 19, 2024 followed by a 7-day orientation program from June 20, 2024 to June 27, 2024. The orientation included sessions from distinguished alumni, expert faculty and workshops on POSH, inclusivity, diversity, equal opportunities and mental well-being.
