New Delhi: In an interview, the Dean of Dr Vithakrao Vikhe Patil Foundation Medical College and Hospital said that the college aims to focus on Community Services to help the large number of people from rural and marginalized areas who don’t have many health facilities.

Prof. Dr Sunil Natha Mhaske, the Dean of Dr Vithalrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Medical College and Hospital shared that the number of seats for MBBS students was 100 in 2004, then in the year 2011 seats increased to 150, and two years before the intake was increased to 200 seats.

The college will now work on increasing the number of PG seats in the academic year 2024-25, after increasing the maximum limit for UG Seats permitted by NMC.

As of now, the Dr Vithakrao Vikhe Patil Foundation Medical College and Hospital has nearly 80 MoUs with various state, national, and international levels which are mostly related to academics and research-oriented along with health facilities.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) benefit the college from good institutions by hiring their faculties and researchers who get the knowledge to the faculty, students, and non-teaching segment.

The Dr. Vithakrao Vikhe Patil Foundation’s Medical College started its PG courses in 10 clinical-based disciplines. This year the PG seats are increasing as the college is regularly conducting multi-diagnostic camps.

Prof. Dr Sunil Natha Mhaske shared, “This year we are increasing the PG seats in various disciplines because as I said we regularly conduct multi-diagnostic camps, our hospital workload is too much as we have 990 beds which is near about 1000 beds, we are providing basic health care along with super speciality care”.

“So, there is a lack of manpower in the hospital, that’s why we are increasing the PG seats this year only and UG seats have already increased to the maximum limit i.e. 200 as permitted by NMC”, Dr Sunil added.
