AISSMS Organises “Atithya’24”

Amidst the hustle and bustle of academic life, AISSMS College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology came together for an electrifying celebration of Atithya 2024- A reflection of hospitality. This much-anticipated intercollegiate competition, was recently held and transformed the campus into a vibrant hub of creativity, talent, and enthusiasm, and like every year, this event ended on a festive note with Awards night and Gala Dinner. 

This year there were 35 colleges from across the nation, who participated in the event. The title sponsor for Atithya 2024 were Suhana Spices, associate sponsors were Poona Hoteliers Association (PHA), along with other esteemed sponsors.(Planet Fluid, Career4You, Eduvator Overseas, Kareer Krafter. Karamat, Sula Wines, Centro, Ashiraj, University College Birmingham, 90ml coffee, Global Career Advisers etc.)

In its 14th year of celebration the theme of this year's festival was, "Champs Elysees- The Allure of French Boulevard," and the evening soiree was graced by honourable secretary of AISSM Society Shri Malojiraje Chhatrapati with Smt Madhurimaraje Chhatrapati, Chief guest for the event - Mr. Ashwin Kotnis IG Tamil Nadu, Guest of honour - Chef Ajay Chopra Managing Director Zion Hospitality and, Mr. Anand Chordia - Director Technology and Innovation, Suhana Spices and Praveen Masale.

One of the highlights of the festival was Guest of Honour Chef Ajay Chopra, Masterchef host for Season 1 and 2, and currently a culinary influencer with his YouTube series ‘The Big Daddy’, who elevated the event with his amiable and charismatic presence, inspiring everyone to savour the joys of good food and fellowship. Hon Secretary Shri Malojiraje Chhatrapati congratulated the Principal and faculty members for their book " The spice Route" that was released at the event.

From captivating cultural performances by the students, to felicitating the winners, this was a memorable evening replete with the charm of hospitality. The champions trophy for Atithya 2024 was won 3rd time in a row by IHM Kolkata.

Indeed, Atithya 2024 was a celebration of camaraderie, creativity, and passion that defines the college community. The students, faculty and Principal Dr. Sonali Jadhav extend their gratitude towards all participated colleges. As students return to their academic pursuits, they carry with them memories and experiences of a truly unforgettable celebration.


Flavors of Excellence: AISSMS CHMCT Sets New World Record with 100 Curries in 250 Minutes

Pune, Maharashtra, 5th May 2023 - The students and faculty of AISSMS College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (CHMCT), have successfully achieved a world record for preparing an astonishing 100 curries in a mere 250 minutes, certified by World Book of Records London and Iudex. This remarkable feat is a tribute to the rich and diverse Indian cuisine and a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of the team. The attempt was also a part of the AISSM Society's centenary milestone celebrated last year, and AISSMS CHMCT's commendable completion of 25 years.

A total of 250 students and faculty members united on a global stage to exhibit their exceptional culinary skills. With unwavering dedication, the students showcased their passion and collaborative spirit as they diligently prepared a wide array of curries, leaving the judges in awe and establishing a new standard for culinary excellence.

The inauguration of the event was graced by Shri Malojiraje Chhatrapati, Honorable Secretary of the AISSM Society, alongside esteemed Guest of Honour Chef Shailendra Kekade, a renowned celebrity chef and restaurateur. Dr. Sonali Jadhav, Principal of AISSMS CHMCT, and other officials from the AISMM Society were also present to mark the occasion.

A distinguished Panel of Jury oversaw and assessed the entire process of attempting this world record. The panel included Mr. Rajeev Srivastava, Vice President of World Book of Record - India, representing the renowned World Book of Records in London. Accompanying him were subject experts Dr. Aparna Deshpande and gazetted officer Dr. Archana Biwal. After careful evaluation, the panel confirmed that the team had indeed achieved their goal and set a remarkable new world record.

The Team comprising Faculty, staff and students to attempt this World Record is led by Principal Dr. Sonali Jadhav, and Head of Culinary Department Dr. Gauri Shah. 

Speaking about the achievement, Dr. Sonali Jadhav, Principal of AISSMS CHMCT, said, "We are extremely proud of our students and the entire team at CHMCT for this remarkable achievement. The record-breaking attempt is a celebration of Indian cuisine and serves as a reminder of the immense talent and potential that our country holds. First Time in India AISSMS CHMCT Organises ‘Skillet’ an Entrepreneurial Event

This year AISSMS CHMCT celebrates its 25 th year in the education field. To rejoice these years, thecollege has planned numerous events to make learning more practical and exciting for hotelmanagement students. To promote entrepreneurship, the Innovation and Start-up cell of the collegehas organised a 2-day event named “Skillet- Restaurateurs in making.”

The unique concept of this event is a brainchild of Chef Sarvesh Jadhav, the college alumni who ownCafehouse Reeka, Pune and this thought is supported by another Alumni, Chef Ambar Rode, ownerof Le Petit Amour Pune.

‘Skillet’ is a competition of operating two Food and Beverage outlets named ‘Cafehouse Reeka’ and‘Le Petit Amour’ Pune on 19 th and 20 th September 2022. A team of 15 students will be operatingthese Food and Beverage outlets. The teams will be competing with each other on variousparameters like, revenue, services offered and operations management.

Final year BHMCT student Mr Vipul Shelke will lead the team at the Le Petit Amour and Final yearBsc Hs student Ms Komal Parmar will lead the team at Cafehouse Reeka. Both the teams startedtheir training on 1st Sep to understand the daily operations. The teams will also be innovating andpreparing 05 preparations to be sold on the event dates.

The winning team will get an opportunity to work with the respective outlets.

Dr Sonali Jadhav, Principal of the college said, that this assignment will give the students a first-handexperience of running a restaurant with all its challenges.

The Udaan cell head Dr Prachi Wani with its coordinator Mr Sukesh Monga will be executing theevent.


World Bread Day was celebrated uniquely by AISSMS-CHMCT Creation of 20 types of bread for Bread Day

“World Bread Day” is internationally celebrated on October 16 every year. The day is celebrated to raise awareness of the availability of food throughout the world. AISSMS's "College of Hotel Management and Catering Technology" carries out various innovative initiatives. The college celebrated World Bread Day this year by baking 20 different types of internationally popular bread throughout the week. 

“World Bread Day” was celebrated by the ‘Udaan’ department of the college that focuses on entrepreneurship development. The event took place between October 16 and October 20. Four types of bread were made every day by the students of the college and sold through the social media platform 'Pune Eat Outs'. Orders for the bread were accepted on the PunEOrders website, while arrangements were made to carry orders from nine locations. During this initiative, Potato Buns and Cookies were distributed to several NGOs such as Nirankar Balgram, Matruchhaya Balakashram and Dnyandeep Balagruha. 

Dr. Sonali Jadhav, the college's principal, provided additional information about this initiative, "We have many options for international cuisine, but most of them are either unrecognizable or very expensive. Taking responsibility as a college that is performing remarkable work in this field, we organized this initiative to introduce various international bread at affordable prices. Pune citizens enthusiastically embraced the initiative.” AISSMS Honorary Secretary Maloji Raje Chhatrapati praised this innovative project, saying, "Learning from real-life experiences is a valuable tool in professional life. Congratulations to the students and teachers for making this event a success!"
