Admission Counselling for Four IIITs in Andhra Pradesh to Begin From July 20; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The counseling for admissions into four IIITs in Andhra Pradesh is scheduled to commence on July 20, 2023. 

According to the Education Minister Botcha Satyanarayana, Out of the 38,355 applicants seeking admission in the six-year integrated course offered by the four campuses of the IIITs under Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKTs), 4,400 students were selected.

The Education Minister has also mentioned that the selected candidate's counselling process will be conducted from July 20 to 25 and classes for the first-year students would commence in the first week of August. He cited the top 20 rankers in the admission test being from government schools as evidence of the increasing trust of parents in State-run institutions.

Selection of the candidates for the six-year integrated course will be done based on merit in the 10th class result and roaster system. The 4 IIIT colleges offer 4,400 seats. Nuzvid, R.K. Valley (Idupulapaya), Ongole and Srikakulam.

Out of the total applications, 83% (23,628) were from students of government schools, and 17% (14,727) were from private schools.

The Minister also mentioned that an applicant who had scored 599 marks in the 10th class reflected the high demand for the institution.

According to Mr. Satyanarayana “ the government accorded top priority to the education, medical and health, agriculture and welfare sectors. It was focussed on improving the infrastructure facilities in the IIITs and teacher appointments would also be taken up soon’’.

He added that the tenders will be called to start the construction of the Ongole IIIT building and also ensured that the work will be completed as soon as possible. 

The education sector reforms introduced by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, including several schemes, have garnered attention from many other States, leading them to show eagerness in emulating Andhra Pradesh's initiatives.

Dignitaries present on the occasion were RGUKT Chancellor K. C. Reddy, Vice-Chancellor M. Vijay Kumar, professors Sandhya Rani, Jayrami Reddy, Jagadeeswara Rao, Gopala Raju, G.V.R. Srinivasa Rao, and other university officials.
