- The program gives students the opportunity to work on theoretical and practical problems, through varied learning activities and settings. In a small-scale teaching environment, students will learn about the etiology, development, and course of psychopathology, as well as cutting-edge psychologically informed methods for its prevention and treatment.
- Students will be taught by scientists who have all made unique contributions to the areas of research featured in the program. They enjoy international recognition as prominent researchers in diverse fields of developmental and clinical psychology and associated disciplines. All members of the teaching staff receive consistently excellent evaluations.
- Education takes place on a small scale and is of the highest quality, with personal monitoring and mentoring. Students are assigned an individual mentor who will provide them with personal guidance and supervision. Students will work on theoretical and practical problems through a series of seminars, practicals, research projects, presentations, and lectures – in individual, group, and tutored settings. By choosing their own elective courses and research projects, students will define their own direction or approach. students tutor, who is a scientific leader in their research area, will introduce them to their research group and give them the feedback needed to become a successful scientist.
- The program also has a strong international orientation. It is taught entirely in English, with the staff including highly respected international researchers, and students will be able to work on research projects with a strong international focus. Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Psychology or Education
- Related academic bachelor’s degree (approved by the admissions committee)
- Completed introductory level course in clinical diagnosis and assessment of mental health problems and risks
- GPA of 7.5 (e.g. B) or higher, with an 8 (B+) or higher for your final thesis
- A satisfactory result in the entrance assignment
- A written motivational letter, explaining the choice for this Research Master
- Two letters of recommendation from a professor of the university at which the applicant has undertaken the primary degree
- A personal interview may be part of the application procedure if the committee judges it necessary
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- VU Amsterdam requires all applicants to take an English test. Exceptions are made for students who have completed a bachelor's or master's in Canada, the USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, or Australia.
- The Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam offers the TOEFL ITP English-language proficiency test.
International students hailing from non-English speaking countries also need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
