The Eindhoven University of Technology is a good place to learn science and applications of engineering, I was looking for a program after my master's program that will not be theoretical like Ph.D. And there will also be ample scope for learning the applications of advanced mathematics. This program perfectly serves my purpose. Furthermore, Eindhoven is a fairly modern city in the southern part of the Netherlands and is considered a high-tech city in Europe due to the presence of many Dutch and international companies.
Course Curriculum :
There is no closed book exam in the syllabus of the course, which I liked the most. The entire evaluation process was based on how the trainees performed in various short-term project assignments. The final grade is awarded on the basis of the graduation project performance which is executed in an industrial environment. Trainees in the program will get ample opportunity to work on real-life industrial projects, interact with project stakeholders, and may also get an opportunity to engage with full-time employees of an organization.
Exams :
For PDEng, in my time candidate should have good marks in mathematics and computing papers in M.Sc., and after a short listed he /she would have invited for a formal interview process.
Placement :
Job opportunities after the completion of your academic degree are also very good. Most of the graduates get opportunities in Philips, ASML, Rabobank. Being a high-tech city, Eindhoven - Veldhoven area has a lot of Dutch and international companies, which is also a real boon for the students to get placement easily. The interview process is not difficult. Your performance in the personality test and the academic program for which you have enrolled plays a very important role in getting placement after the degree. Of course, getting the interview call is not easy. You will receive an interview email only if your profile matches the job requirement. If you get a call for an interview, there is a high chance that the employer may hire you. Basic knowledge of the Dutch language also helps in getting the interview call but it is not absolutely necessary.
Internship :
In my final graduation project, I worked for PSA-HNN in Antwerp, Belgium. This is not an internship by definition. Completion of the graduation project is mandatory by staying in an industrial environment 4 days a week.
Events :
The campus life as well as the social life at TU/E is great. Apart from academics, the sports complex and social life on campus are very enjoyable. TU/E is an international university and you will find students from Asian, African, European and Latin American countries.
Fees :
Zero tuition fee for the PDEng program.
Scholarship :
I have been appointed as a trainee in the School of Technological design and the stipends that I received were taxed as per the tax rule of the Dutch Government.
Faculty :
The faculty-student ratio is very good. The medium of instruction was English which was very convenient for the Indian students. The professors are in general very friendly, and display an entirely professional attitude in teaching, assessment, and awarding degrees.
Hostel :
The university helps foreign students to find accommodation in student apartments near the university campus which is well equipped with all modern amenities and is quite secure. The student apartments are small and tiny but quite well organized. Depending on the type of accommodation you get or choose to live in, you may have to share a shared kitchen/bathroom with other students.
