The research activities of the Department of Music can be subdivided into four areas of concentration: (1) Composition, (2) Ethnomusicology/Chinese music, (3) Historical Musicology, and (4) Theory.?

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicant must have completed a masters degree or a bachelors degree with second class honors in upper division
- Applicant should have majored in composition or related field
- Submit official transcripts of all previous education completed
- Submit a research proposal addressing the following; compositional process, approach and technique; musical style; proposed portfolio structure
- Submit a representative portfolio of your work
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL : minimum 79 in iBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- GMAT: verbal band of 21
