Admission at the University of Leipzig is available for the two main academic terms - winter and summer semesters. International candidates can submit applications from April to July 15 for Winter Semester. For the summer semester, candidates can apply from November to January 15. The University of Leipzig stands out for subjects in Medicine, Law, Pharmacy and Teaching. More than a third of the current student population are enrolled in these subjects.

  • Enrolment stats - Around 30,000 students are currently enrolled in the University of Leipzig. Out of this, the international student population comprise 12% of the total.
  • Application Fee - Candidates need to pay €75 ( as an application processing fee to Uni-assist. For each additional application for programs in the same semester, candidates need €30 as an application fee.

Language Proficiency Requirements

International candidates planning to study in Germany need to demonstrate proficiency in both German and English. This is because a majority of undergraduate courses at the University of Leipzig are taught in German. Students can submit any one of the following language certificates -

Visa Application Process

International applicants who have received an offer of admission from the University of Leipzig can apply for a student visa in Germany. This visa will be valid for only three months from the date of issuance. University of Leipzig Postgraduate Admissions

The university offers around 90 postgraduate degree programs. Out of these around 28 postgraduate degree programs are offered in English.
