There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the winter semester 2021 amounts to a total of $387.43. However, the social and student body contribution for the summer and winter semesters of 2021 amounts to a total of $774.86 per year.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $253.41, of which $183.94 for the VRR semester ticket and $69.47for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $114.98
- Student body fee: $19.04.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
In the bachelor's degree in physics and in the research-oriented master's degree in physics, taking into account international requirements and changes in the professional world, students acquire specialist knowledge and methodological skills that enable them to apply and critically classify scientific findings and to act responsibly. In particular, the course conveys in-depth knowledge of experimental and theoretical physics.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- General university entrance qualification (Abitur) or subject-specific university entrance qualification (not technical college entrance qualification) or aptitude or entrance examination.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following language proficiency criteria:
- The language of instruction at the University of Duisburg-Essen is German (except in the English-language courses). Students must therefore have good German language skills if they want to study successfully. The majority of foreign applicants must pass the "German language test for university entrance" (DSH 2 level; apart from a few exceptions) before starting their studies
- Educational residents (people who have obtained their higher education entrance qualification in Germany or at a German school abroad) do not require any special proof of German language skills.
- Citizens of a country outside the EU with a foreign university entrance qualification must pass the "German language test for university entrance" (DSH 2 level) or the TestDaF (TDN 4) before starting their studies.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent certificate to get admission to this program.
