Berlin School of Business and Innovation Application Deadlines for Indian Students

BSBI runs rolling admissions on a three main intake cycle at the Berlin campus. The January, May, and September windows carry visa route deadlines roughly two months before the intake start date. The September intake is the primary window for Indian applicants because most programs open there.

Dates below are drawn from the official BSBI admissions page. BSBI’s primary intake for Indian students is September 2027, with the broadest program choice and the most forgiving visa processing window.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use EUR 1 = INR 108.43 (October 2026). Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

BSBI charges no application fee on any program. The only payment at admission stage is the EUR 2,000 (INR 2.17 Lakhs) deposit which counts toward tuition and is paid only after you accept the offer.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation Eligibility for Indian Students

BSBI uses an access oriented admissions model, which means it admits most applicants who meet its stated academic and English floors, with no entrance exam required. Eligibility differs by study level and by awarding partner university because many BSBI programs are dual badged with UK or US partners.

Academic floors sit at the low end of Indian recognition norms. A Class XII at 60 percent or a Bachelor’s at 55 to 60 percent clears the gate for most tracks.

BSBI Academic Entry Requirements

  • UG general entry: Class XII at 60 percent or above from a recognised Indian board
  • PG standard entry: Bachelor’s at 55 to 60 percent, equivalent to CGPA 5.5 on 10
  • Concordia MBA entry: Bachelor’s with GPA 2.25 on 4.0 scale, roughly 60 percent Indian equivalent
  • Executive MBA entry: Bachelor’s plus two or more years of management experience
  • PhD entry: Master’s or MBA, applicants aged 23 and above

BSBI English Language Requirements

BSBI accepts multiple English tests at admission. The German visa post in Mumbai and New Delhi recognises only IELTS, Goethe, and telc for the student visa file. PTE, TOEFL home edition, and Duolingo are not accepted for India visa processing even if BSBI admits you on them.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

BSBI accepts a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter in place of IELTS when the applicant’s prior qualification was taught and assessed in English, and was awarded within the past five years. This path works for Indian applicants from English medium colleges or those with recent degrees from English speaking countries.

Insider note: The MOI waiver clears BSBI’s admission file but does not satisfy the German consulate for visa. Pair MOI with a Goethe or telc A1 certificate for a smoother visa interview in Mumbai, Chennai, or New Delhi.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation PG Programs

BSBI’s postgraduate catalogue centres on MSc tracks awarded jointly with the University of Chichester, the University for the Creative Arts, and UniNettuno. The MBA family is covered separately in the next section. Standard PG programs run 18 months at the Berlin campus and admit on the IELTS 6.0 floor.

Base tuition for an 18 month MSc is EUR 14,425 (INR 15.64 Lakhs). For the full breakdown across campuses and payment plan options, see the detailed fee breakdown.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation UG Programs

BSBI’s undergraduate suite runs on three year honours tracks jointly awarded with University for the Creative Arts and UniNettuno. A Class XII certificate at 60 percent plus IELTS 6.0 unlocks all tracks. The Foundation Year pathway is available for applicants who narrowly miss the academic floor.

For course level fees and the Foundation Year uplift, check the course-wise fees breakdown.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation MBA

BSBI runs four MBA variants at the Berlin campus. The Global MBA sits with University for the Creative Arts, the Concordia MBA with Concordia University Chicago, the Executive MBA with University of Chichester, and the UNINETTUNO MBA with the Italian partner. Each variant has a distinct work experience bar and English floor, so pick based on your profile and not just fee.

The Global MBA with UCA costs EUR 15,525 (INR 16.83 Lakhs) across 18 months. The Concordia dual degree runs EUR 19,440 (INR 21.08 Lakhs) across 24 months.

MBA Work Experience Floors by Variant

  • Global MBA UCA: Bachelor’s 55 to 60 percent, work experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Concordia MBA: Bachelor’s with GPA 2.25, open to applicants without work experience
  • Executive MBA (Chichester): Bachelor’s plus two or more years management experience
  • UNINETTUNO MBA: Bachelor’s 55 to 60 percent, cohort typically has mid career profiles

GMAT and GRE Policy at Berlin School of Business and Innovation

BSBI does not require GMAT or GRE for any MBA variant. Admission turns on academic transcripts, letter of motivation, CV, and English score. The Executive MBA may include a short interview with the Chichester faculty board, which assesses leadership trajectory rather than quantitative aptitude. Other MBA variants admit on documents only.

Planning note: Applicants with a weak Bachelor’s percentage but strong three plus year corporate experience fit the Executive MBA lane best. The Concordia MBA suits applicants targeting US work mobility because of the Concordia University Chicago second degree.

Scholarship coverage can reach 50 percent through the High Achievers award. See the funding options for Indian students for the full eligibility list.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation PhD

BSBI’s doctorate programme runs through UniNettuno International Telematic University. It admits candidates aged 23 and above who hold a Master’s, MBA, or recognised Level 7 postgraduate degree in a business related discipline. The IELTS floor is 7.0 overall with 6.0 in each component.

Admission turns on a submitted research proposal that outlines topic rationale, aims, methodology, and an initial literature review. BSBI expects proposals to align with faculty research areas such as sustainability, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and healthcare management.

PhD Application Steps at Berlin School of Business and Innovation

  1. Submit research proposal, Master’s transcripts, and two reference letters via start.berlinsbi.com
  2. Attend an online interview with the proposed supervisor, usually within three weeks of application
  3. Receive admission decision within 10 working days of complete file submission
  4. Pay the EUR 2,000 (INR 2.17 Lakhs) deposit to confirm place and trigger the visa invitation letter

PhD Funding at Berlin School of Business and Innovation

BSBI does not publish a dedicated PhD stipend. Doctoral candidates may apply for the High Achievers scholarship at up to 50 percent and for external DAAD research grants. Confirm scholarship fit on the BSBI Scholarships page before committing.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation Application Process

BSBI uses a five step online application routed through the central portal at start.berlinsbi.com. The process is lean because there is no application fee, and the decision timeline sits at 10 working days from a complete file. Three outcomes are possible: full acceptance, conditional acceptance, or rejection.

  1. Create your account and start a new application on the BSBI applicant portal, selecting campus, intake, and programme.
  2. Upload supporting documents including transcripts, letter of motivation, CV, passport scan, and English test score.
  3. Submit the application. No application fee is charged at BSBI for any program, so submission is cost free.
  4. Receive an admission decision within 10 working days as full acceptance, conditional acceptance, or rejection.
  5. Accept the offer within four weeks by signing the study contract and paying the EUR 2,000 (INR 2.17 Lakhs) deposit, which counts toward tuition.
  6. Collect the final admissions letter and lodge your Germany student visa file at the German consulate for your state.

Conditional offers typically require you to clear a pending IELTS result or submit a final year transcript. Accepted applicants may defer the start date once by up to two intakes with a written request before the intake begins.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation Documents Required

BSBI accepts electronic uploads of all documents through the online portal, so no physical couriering is needed at the application stage. Documents issued in Hindi or regional languages need an official English translation. Most Indian school and university certificates are already issued in English, so this rarely applies.

  • Passport scan valid for at least 15 months past intake
  • Class XII marksheet and certificate for UG, or Bachelor’s transcripts and degree certificate for PG
  • Letter of motivation capped at one page
  • CV or resume listing education, work experience, projects, and internships
  • Two reference letters for PG and PhD (one for UG)
  • English test score report or MOI letter where accepted
  • Professional passport size photograph on a bright background
  • Research proposal for PhD candidates only
  • Portfolio for design and creative tracks such as MA Interior Design
  • Work experience letter for Executive MBA applicants

Transcripts need not be attested for the BSBI file itself. The German consulate will separately require APS verification during the visa stage, which is handled through the German Academic Evaluation Centre in New Delhi.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation Acceptance Rate

BSBI does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Third party admissions trackers estimate the BSBI acceptance rate at 60 to 85 percent, based on an access oriented entry pattern consistent with its stated admissions model and dual badged UK partnership structure.

What Drives a Rejection at Berlin School of Business and Innovation

Rejections usually trace to one of three things. A Bachelor’s below the 55 percent floor without compensating work experience is the first. An incomplete English profile with no MOI backup is the second. A letter of motivation that reads as generic rather than program specific is the third.

How Indian Applicants Can Strengthen the File

A one page letter of motivation that names faculty, specific electives, and a career plan tied to Berlin’s startup economy moves most borderline files to acceptance. Pair it with a dated reference letter that cites project level outputs rather than attendance.

Insider note: BSBI’s low rejection rate reflects selection filtering at the IELTS stage rather than the application stage. Applicants submitting with a confirmed IELTS 6.0 and complete transcripts rarely see rejection, which is why the published 10 working day turnaround holds up in practice. Programmes carry a 4 Star QS Stars ranking band that Indian recruiters now recognise.

Germany Student Visa for Berlin School of Business and Innovation

Indian applicants need a Germany national visa under the student category, not a Schengen visa. Lodge the application at the German consulate serving your state, with Mumbai for west, Chennai for south, Kolkata for east, and New Delhi for north and north east. Average processing time ranges from 6 to 12 weeks, so start the file as soon as BSBI issues the admissions letter.

Core visa requirements include the BSBI admissions letter, a blocked account (Sperrkonto) with EUR 11,904 (INR 12.91 Lakhs) for the first year of living costs, APS certificate from the German Academic Evaluation Centre in New Delhi, travel health insurance, and proof of English or German proficiency recognised by the German mission (IELTS, Goethe, or telc). After arrival, register your address at the local Burgeramt within two weeks. Apply for the residence permit at the Berlin Auslanderbehorde before the entry visa expires at 90 days.

2026 update: The APS India certificate is now mandatory for all Indian student visa applicants to Germany, including BSBI tracks. Book the APS appointment at least 10 to 12 weeks before your intended visa interview because APS processing itself can take four to six weeks.

Tips for Berlin School of Business and Innovation Admissions

The following tips are drawn from Indian applicant patterns at BSBI across the January, May, and September intakes.

  • Apply three to four months before the visa deadline to buffer the Sperrkonto and APS files.
  • Book IELTS Academic (not General) at least eight weeks before the BSBI deadline you target.
  • Target the September 2027 primary intake if your Bachelor’s convocation is pending in June or July.
  • Name a specific Berlin faculty project or industry link in your letter of motivation to lift it above template submissions.
  • Request the APS certificate the moment you decide to apply because APS runs independent of the BSBI file.
  • Stack the High Achievers Scholarship application with your main admission file, not after the offer, because joint review is faster.

Berlin School of Business and Innovation Admissions Checklist

The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete across the 16 week BSBI admissions cycle.

  • Week 1 to 2: Book your IELTS slot and start the APS certificate request at the German Academic Evaluation Centre.
  • Week 3 to 4: Draft your letter of motivation and request two reference letters from recent faculty or managers.
  • Week 5 to 6: Submit the BSBI application on start.berlinsbi.com with all documents and your IELTS result.
  • Week 7 to 8: Receive the offer within 10 working days and plan the EUR 2,000 (INR 2.17 Lakhs) deposit timing.
  • Week 9 to 10: Open your Sperrkonto blocked account with Expatrio or Fintiba and transfer the first year living cost.
  • Week 11 to 12: Book your Germany student visa appointment and prepare the biometrics file.
  • Week 13 to 16: Attend the visa interview, collect the visa, and book travel for the intake orientation week.

BSBI’s admissions bar is low by design, with no application fee, a 10 working day decision, and an IELTS 6.0 floor. The real gate is logistical: APS, Sperrkonto, and the Germany visa file. Start those alongside the BSBI application, not after the offer.

Scholarship

  • I received a scholarship from BSBI's end for about 40% of the amount. It amounted to about 9000 euros. My classmates had different scholarships too. The highest was 50% to one of my closest friends. BSBI offers a bunch of scholarships to students depending on the grades you receive in your previous diplomas or degrees. The usual scholarships are about 10-20% but depending on your profile, you can aim for more. The scholarships depend on the courses too.

Scholarship

  • If we paid full fees, they will give us a 30% discount, which we can consider a scholarship. That is the eligibility criteria to get a scholarship.
  • At my time they were giving up to 40% but now it decreases to 30% and other than this scholarship, there is no scholarship. If you are lucky enough, you can ask your coordinator to increase the amount of scholarship; they might help, but ask before the fee payment.
