Approach Solution -2

The collecting duct is not the part of nephron

Nephron is the functional unit of the kidney. It is responsible for the filtration of blood and forming urine. The parts are as follows:

Proximal convoluted tubule (PCT): After the glomerulus, it is the next segment. This segment is responsible for the reabsorption of substances back into the bloodstream.

Loop of Henle: The segment that helps in the concentration of urine is called the loop of Henle. It is a U shaped part and maintains the water balance of the body.

Distal convoluted tubule (DCT): The last segment of the nephron is DCT. After that it gets connected with the collecting duct. It is also involved in reabsorption of substances.

Collecting duct: It is not considered as the part of nephron, but is essential in the process of urine formation. More than one nephron shares the common collecting duct that can gather all the urine and transport it.
