Step 1: The recognised methods of emergency (postcoital) contraception are levonorgestrel, combined high-dose estrogen plus progestin (Yuzpe), high-dose estrogen, mifepristone (RU 486), ulipristal acetate, and the copper IUD.
Step 2: The copper IUD inserted within 5 days is the most effective method (pregnancy rate about 0.1 percent). Mifepristone and high-dose estrogen both work as emergency contraceptives.
Step 3: Danazol is an attenuated androgen used for endometriosis and menorrhagia. It is NOT an emergency contraceptive.
So the exception is Danazol.
