Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of my deep interest in the field. The faculty is well deserving and knowledgeable with a wonderful connection with students. The faculty ratio is generally 1:30. Most of the faculty members are industry experienced with an instinct of wonderful teaching. The course curriculum is a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge. We've well-equipped studios and we go on trips for academic learning. All in all this course is worth doing at this college. Term exams occur half-yearly. Questions are not so difficult for those who have read it properly and listened to the lectures.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fee structure is not so high. It is around 70k for the whole course. One need to pay the whole fees in 12 instalments happening quarterly. Fees are the lowest among other competitors. The beginning of the new campus can see a little bit increase in fee structure but it'll be something which can be managed easily. People get various scholarships for performing good in semesters. They also get government based scholarship.

Admission:

I was asked to appear for a common entrance test. Once I cleared the entrance test, we were called for a face-to-face interview. During the interview, I was asked several questions that tested my interest and enthusiasm in taking up the course that I had opted for. We were also asked to submit a portfolio of all the cultural and academic work that we had done so far. I carried with a portfolio of all the non-academic and academic accomplishments I had accumulated until that date and showed it to the the interviewer.

Entrance Preview:

I come from a small coastal town, Pondicherry which is just 3 hours of a travel by road to Chennai. Since I wanted to study in a bigger and metropolitan city, I chose to study in Chennai, also because it was closer to where my family used to live at that point of time. M.O.P Vaishnav was one of the best Arts and Science Colleges in Chennai at the point of time, and it still is, so I decided to take up my science under graduation from here.

I believe the course curriculum is up to date. And is equally oriented towards research and also creativity. In the first year, we had subjects like: Introduction To Electronic Media, Audiography-where we were taught the nuances of sound, understanding visual media-where we were taught the basics of drawing and design. We also had 3 elective papers, being: Personal Effectiveness Program- while was a life skill program and Hindi and English. In the second semester, we had Radio Production in which we had to produce our own radio program for our college radio station, 2D Graphics- where we were taught softwares such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. In the subject called basics of production design, another core paper, we were taught how a set works, and set designing. The skill papers were English, Hindi, Life Skills and EVS. For the third semester, we had the core papers: of Photography-we had to develop our own portfolio, Television Production- we were taught to come up with our own script, and other pre production work, and also shoot the same, edit and dub it. College Events:

Our college has events throughout the year. Apart from Abhilasha, which is a cultural festival for the Freshers, just to break the ice and make them feel welcome, which is a highly competitive event, we have VISH which is the Vaishnav Initiative for Social Help which is a 3 day event. Not only do we visit multiple homes where students aren't provided with proper educational materials, we are also given a chance for a dandiya night and a movie night. Apart from these two, our department conducts the MOP Model United Nations and Champions of Indian Cinema which is a very elaborate event celebrating a particular champion of Indian cinema. This aside, we have Jhankar and Jhankar Intelligentsia Fest which are two separate events. Jhankar for intern departmental competitions and Jhankar Intelligentsia Fest for inter collegiate students. These events run throughout the year, apart from the numerous events by every department.
