The Department of Computer Science offers a Diploma in Computer Studies. The Diploma in Computer Studies can be completed in two years*, and offers a foundation in computer science and information systems education. The program covers topics including program design, systems analysis and design, fundamentals of microcomputers, web development, networking, and more.


The Computer Programmer, two-year diploma program offers students the opportunity to study current trends in software development. This intensive, two-year program concludes with a work term for eligible students.

Web technology topics include HTML5, CSS5, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, React and others to develop user interfaces. Students work with server-side programming languages including Microsoft C#.NET, Python and Java. In the database components, students perform all aspects of database design and work with SQL/NOSQL on several database management systems (DSMS). Students demonstrate their knowledge and skills by developing solutions to real world, three tiered (client, server, database) problems. 

Major coursework is assigned as term projects that span entire terms allowing students to actively engage in the evaluation, design and implementation of real world software applications. As a result, student develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity and communication skills.

The Business Management program is designed for university and college graduates who are eager to expand their management knowledge and skills. Using a student-centred, practical approach to learning, students work with professors with real world business experience to develop the tools needed for success in a Canadian or international business environment.

The curriculum has a broad focus designed to develop the fundamental skills necessary to manage human, physical and financial resources in order to meet the strategic goals of an organization. Students will learn the essential aspects of business including marketing, sales, accounting, finance, human resources management and operations management. Through hands-on learning approaches, students will graduate with the communication skills, confidence and independent learning abilities needed to be successful in today's business world.

Located between Main Street and Cambie Street, most Langara programs and courses are held at the main campus. Our beautiful campus is located along the Ontario bike lane and just a few minutes walk from Langara-49th Ave Canada Line station.


Lambton College is primarily located in Sarnia, Ontario but also has international student campuses in Mississauga and Toronto. Since 1967, Lambton College has worked in partnership with the community to create a region of innovators, working together to strengthen the local economy, and meet industry demand for skilled employees.


Library

Langara Library is at the heart of a vibrant, engaging and exciting educational experience, and an essential contributor to academic excellence – a progressive academic library, fully integrated with the teaching, learning and research at Langara College.

The collection supports the research needs of Langara College students and the college community in general. The building provides individual, silent, and group study options, as well as computers, wireless access, computer labs and printing facilities. Help with research is available in person, or by text messaging, chat, email or phone.

Langara's Learning Commons is on the first floor of the Library, featuring an expanded and enhanced work and study space, technology-enhanced tables to enable sharing of content on mobile devices such as laptops, a flexible tutoring space (Writing Centre and subject peer tutoring), and a streamlined library service point. 

The LEED Canada Gold Certified Library/Classroom Building features a unique energy-efficient design. It has captured national and international attention for its environmentally progressive features and is a landmark on campus and in the community.

  • At the start of the term students are welcomed to Langara and connected to campus resources with a series of events, giveaways, snacks, and entertainment.
  • One of the best ways to meet people is to join a club. There are dozens of clubs from animé to languages, or business to culture, for you to join. And if you can’t find one, talk to them at the Hub about starting something new.
  • Be empowered to contribute to Langara and to our surrounding community through volunteerism with Langara’s VOLT Volunteer program. Over 3,500 students have participated in this popular student-driven volunteer program. It is rare to have an event on campus without an orange VOLT t-shirt in sight.
  • Langara’s Global Volunteers support cultural events, international student orientation, and ongoing activities to deepen a shared cultural connection between students on campus.
  • Do you love theatre? Enjoy outstanding productions each year from our Theatre Arts program, Studio 58.

Lambton's Residence houses over 280 students and is located on campus. It includes a courtyard and a student lounge. Esports Arena on campus was the first of its kind at a Canadian college. The new Athletics & Fitness Complex features a brand new Fitness Room that is free for students. Enactus Lambton is a student group, formed in early 2012, and were crowned World Champions at the 2018 Enactus World Cup, which took place in San Jose, California. The Lambton College team competed with 30 other international college and university teams before the finals where they faced Egypt, India, and Morocco. They're the first Canadian College to ever take home the top prize.
