- MS in Computational Electrical & Computer Engineering at The University of British Columbia is offered as a 2-year program.
- It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis only.
- The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Electrical and Computer Engineering Program is for students interested in pursuing advanced studies and research in Biomedical Technologies, Communications Systems, Computer, and Software Systems, Energy Systems, or Micro and Nano Technologies.
- Electrical and Computer Engineers develop computing systems, from chip architecture to mobile applications, to communications protocols as well as the energy systems to allow these devices and all other electrical systems to function.
- The discipline has a huge impact on society because it helps to design the systems we use in everything from health to finance to safety.
Requirements to complete the MASc Program
- Completion of a total of 30 credits
- Successful completion of an MASc Thesis (EECE 599) which culminates in a MASc Thesis Defense, worth 12 credits
- 18 remaining credits must be from course work – Full time students usually complete these 18 credits of coursework during their first year in the program. Students are required to obtain approval of their course selection from their thesis supervisor before they register for courses.
- A failing grade (less than 68%) must be accompanied by a written summary from the committee outlining the reasons for this decision. If a student fails the exam, the examining committee may recommend a re-examination at a later date, but the committee is not required to do so.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- A GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 is required to be eligible for the program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Students must complete an undergraduate degree with first-class in a relevant field from a highly ranked university in India.
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
