University of Windsor, Ontario

6.3 /10

My overall experience at my college/university can be defined as transformative, enriching, and inspiring. Throughout my time at this institution, I have grown both academically and personally, discovering my passions and honing my skills in various areas of interest. Academically, my college/university has provided me with a solid foundation of knowledge and critical thinking skills. The professors at this institution are highly knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects, and their dedication to teaching has been evident in their engaging lectures and thought-provoking discussions. The curriculum has been rigorous yet flexible, allowing me to explore different areas of study and tailor my education to my interests. The supportive learning environment has encouraged me to challenge myself and strive for excellence in my academic pursuits.

Course Curriculum :

It’s related to applied computing and artificial intelligence so I’d say it’s pretty relevant in today’s growing market for software development. There was also a mandatory co-op to complete which provided more exposure and an opportunity to apply what we learnt at university

Exams :

IELTS: 6.5 and I had to write an SOP (statement of purpose). There were no interviews or tests to attend. I had applied to multiple universities and none of them demanded any more formalities than the others. SOP: Work experience of three years was an important point to mention

Placement :

Great opportunities because it’s a small town and the companies we apply to consider our profiles well because it’s a well known university with fewer applicants compared to Toronto. Blackberry is where I applied and got into. Everyone in my batch got placed where they applied. The median salaries were $18-30 per hour.

Internship :

Blackberry co op and post graduate placement. Salary was $26 per hour with 20 hours of work per week. You apply with the help of guidance counsellors at the university using job websites like Indeed, Monster, etc.

Fees :

$39,000.

Faculty :

The few professors we had were amazing and had decades of experience dealing with students from around the world from different cultures and backgrounds. I was a student during lockdown so all our classes were virtual but we had good facilities to attend classes online and libraries to help us keep up with the curriculum. Our class had 140 students.

Campus Life :

Campus was very big and very lush with greenery and lots of buildings. It was quite a walk to get from one class to another but the walk was worth it. Extracurricular activities included book clubs, sports teams. A lot of students mostly spent their time with part time jobs so not many participants for those.

Hostel :

I stayed with 4 other roommates in a townhouse outside of campus and paid around $400 per month.
