Taylor Review at Confederation College, Thunder Bay | Collegedunia

My review

T
6.0 /10

I opted for this particular college because I wanted to continue to live at home with my parents and not have to worry about moving out of town/moving all of my stuff. Also, it was more convenient to stay in my home town.

Course Curriculum :

It is good and informative of all of the information that I need to be a successful developmental services worker in the future. I wish that we had more courses based on disability so that I felt more confident though.

Placement :

There are many job opportunities and the placement gives you a wide range of choices so that you can experience working with adults and children who have developmental and/or intellectual disabilities.

Internship :

Yes, an unpaid placement. It is a good opportunity and usually ends in a job offer which is a perfect opportunity so that you have a job immediately after you graduate college. There are a lot of hours though and they are hard to complete.

Events :

Talent shows, karaoke shows, events celebrated by international students. Also a variety of sales and free events like free food/healthy lunches, movie days with popcorn, bringing in therapy dogs is also something they do.

Fees :

Typical $4000 a year for canadian students, more expensive for international students. Ability to opt out of a health plan which is good if you already have additional health insurance.

Examination Structure :

Mostly multiple choice and short answer for most exams. Some exams for health programs also have a practical exam to text competencies and abilities of the students to check understanding of what they have learnt.

Faculty :

Most of the faculty are caring and want each student to succeed in the field of work they have chosen. Some faculty seem like they don't particularly care about their students though.
