Individually supervised research programs are available in the following areas of research focus:
- Analytical Chemistry (minerals chemistry, industrial chemistry, food chemistry and functional foods, metabolomics, natural products extraction and identification, medicinal chemistry, separation science, flow injection analysis and mass spectrometry, spectroscopic techniques and biomedical diagnostics);
- Environmental Science (air, soil and water quality, peatland and aquatic/marine ecosystems, environmental contamination and contaminant detection, biosolids, environmental toxicology, microplastics detection and analysis, microbial geology and Medical Geology);
- Physical and Materials Chemistry (organic and inorganic synthesis, drug discovery and delivery, green chemistry, carbon capture materials, colloidal chemistry, AFM techniques and antimicrobial surfaces, functional surfaces, self-assembled nanomaterials, micro- and nano-technologies, nano-biotechnology, thin films and 2D materials, electrochemistry, plasmonics and nanosensors, heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis, water splitting, solar cells and energy storage, stem cells and tissue engineering);

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must complete a bachelor's degree or Honours degree from a recognized university.
- The applicant must have achieved at least a credit average in the final year.
- The degree should include a research component comprised of a thesis, other research projects or research methodology courses that constitute at least 25% of a full-time academic year (or part-time equivalent).
- Evidence of appropriate academic qualifications and/or experience that satisfies the Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research Training and Development or nominee that the applicant has developed knowledge of the field of study or cognate field and the potential for research sufficient to undertake the proposed program.
- At RMIT a grade of credit represents academic achievement of 60% or higher.
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year bachelor's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Or, completed a B.Sc/B.Com/B.A (3-4 year) degree from well-ranked institutions with an overall grade of 60% or CGPA 6.4+.
