Cental Queensland University - life in college

A
4.5 /10

I want a great education to prepare me for my future career. This is the only university that offered my course in Australia without a radiography background and as an undergraduate, which is the reason I applied.

Course Curriculum :

It has its faults there is not much lab time roughly 2 hours a week with a supervisor and 1 hour of personal practice. The course is mainly reliant on placement hours and practice to get hands-on experience. Although the tutors are great when there is allocated time.

Exams :

I undertook VCE In year 12. I have also taken many practical and written exams throughout the course. Although to be qualified will need to pass my exam.

Placement :

Job opportunity for me has been great as I have found my own placement to which I have been hired as a student and will finish my degree there which will allow me to have another job when finishing my degree.

Internship :

They do search for placements although have a lot of trouble doing so and some students do miss out. For those who do miss out the uni get them to do extra practice on campus and then finds placement when they can.

Events :

There is not much celebration although there is a graduation ceremony once completing the course. They do run special lunches and days where students can socialize although the outcome isn't as great as expected.

Fees :

Fees are all covered by hex apart from books which are roughly $500 a year. Although some of these are available online and cheaper.

Examination Structure :

Exams are intense and are mainly practical. The pass rate is 75% which makes it's hard although makes sense when we have patients in our care once leaving university. They are spread out which makes the process easier.

Faculty :

Faculty do the best they can with the circumstances some have been hard to communicate with although are no longer employed with CQU. Otherwise, they spend a lot of time in labs preparing us for clinical.

Hostel :

There is no on-campus accommodation, therefore, I need to rent elsewhere and it is expensive and hard to manage meaning I have to work a lot. This does at times jeopardize my study although it is necessary and I have learned to manage.
