The entry level was easy to achieve for the degree I wanted, had really good reports from past students. It has great teaching staff for the subjects with a ton of real-world experience and offers a lot of practical elements to go with the theory. Also has pretty decent and cheap accommodation.
Course Curriculum :
The course itself is very well thought out with a wide array of subjects. It heavily incorporates practical learning while still teaching the theory and knowledge necessary for the profession. The course allows for flexibility through majors and electives.
Placement :
Griffith consistently offers job opportunities to students through our Career Board, networking nights, Seminars and sometimes emails from faculty with job opportunities listed. Griffith also runs an Industry Mentoring Program between students and industry professionals which allows them to gain unique job opportunities in that way.
Internship :
Griffith provides a wide series of work placements incorporated throughout the degree to allow students to gain credit points while getting experience. The support given to students throughout the process is incredible and allows for growth.
Fees :
The fee structure is under a Band structure that separates degrees and courses into certain 'Band' levels which determine their price points. There is a government cap in place on the fees associated with the university, which may be deferred to later payment under the HECS help scheme. There is then a student service and amenities fee charged every semester.
Scholarship :
I have received financial aid in the form of a once off $240 bursary from the University. I have also received scholarships from the Australian Centrelink department in the form of a Relocation Scholarship to move to university. I also received a student start-up loan from Centrelink to assist with the costs of study each semester and regular Youth Allowance payments to assist with the cost of living while studying.
Examination Structure :
During the semester, there is a mid-semester exam period for smaller weighted pieces or assignments. At the end of the semester, there is a 3 day study period and a 10 day exam period. There are 3 exam periods each day. Each student has a max of approximately 4 exams each period. A student is only allowed a maximum of 2 exams within 24 hours
Faculty :
The faculty gives a lot of academic, social and equitable support for the students and actually care for their success and career prospects in the process
Hostel :
On campus at Griffith, we have on-campus accommodation in the form of three colleges across two campuses. It is on this that there is flat style accommodation and dorm style accommodation. The rent includes boarding, water, electricity, and the internet. However, the rooms can be quite depressing the staff relatively overbearing and controlling at times.
